Spex 6850 freezer mill
The Spex 6850 freezer mill is a larger cryogenic impact grinder with self-contained liquid nitrogen tub and insulated case. The Spex 6850 holds one large capacity 6801 sample vial or four 6751 sample vials for grinding, with the capacity to hold one 6801 vial or four 6751 vials in a pre-cooling chamber and is equipped with speed control, programmable timer, and safety interlock. Liquid nitrogen is necessary for operation of this freezer mill. Grinds samples in the 1.0 gram to 100.0 gram range. SPEX CertiPrep Freezer/Mills are cryogenic laboratory mills that cool samples to cryogenic temperatures and pulverize them by magnetically shuttling a steel impactor back and forth against two stationary end plugs. Since the vial is closed, the integrity of its contents is maintained: hazardous or critical samples are easily controlled, clean-up is simplified, and crosssample contamination is eliminated. Because the vial is immersed in liquid nitrogen throughout the grinding cycle, the sample is kept at cryogenic temperatures and its key aspects preserved.
All of our equipment is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test ovens using a calibrated digital chart recorder to verify the accuracy of temperature controls and readouts and run the unit under vacuum to insure chamber integrity. We typically leave an oven under vacuum for 24 hours to make sure the pressure holds. We replace any hardware or parts as is necessary and clean all incubators thoroughly prior to shipment.

The photos above are representative. Please bear in mind that the equipment shown is currently in storage in our warehouse and that in addition to testing each machine we will clean all the equipment thoroughly prior to shipment. We often have multiple units of each model in stock and sometimes we're unable to feature photos of every single unit. At your request, we can provide photos of the equipment in your order after it has been tested and cleaned.
