Refurbished Freeze Dryers/Lyophilizers

from American Instrument Exchange

American Instrument Exchange consistently stocks a wide variety of refurbished freeze dryers and lyophilizers from numerous manufacturers including Labconco, Virtis, SP Scientific, Millrock Technologies, and more. With savings of up to 60% off the cost of comparable new models, we can put a reliable freeze dryer in your lab at a competitive price.

And lower cost doesn't mean lower quality:our technicians test freeze dryers using calibrated digital chart recorders to verify the accuracy of temperature controls and readouts. We replace any hardware or parts as is necessary and clean all units thoroughly prior to shipment. We test vacuum accuracy using an independent gauge. We can provide customers with copies of the test records for each unit.

Freeze Dryers/Lyophilizers

A lyophilizer executes a water removal process typically used to preserve perishable materials, to extend shelf life or make the material more convenient for transport. This is accomplishedby freezing the material, then reducing the pressure and adding heat to allow the frozen water in the material to sublimate. This three-stage process consists of a freezing phase, a primary drying phase (also known as sublimation), and a secondary drying phase (also known as adsorption). If performed correctly freeze-drying results in a high-quality preservation of product because of the low temperatures used in processing. Primary applications include biological preservation, biomedical preservation, and food processing.

The main components of any freeze dryer are a refrigeration system, a vacuum system, a control system, a product chamber or manifold, and a condenser. Control systems can vary widely in complexity. They typically include settings for temperature and vacuum pressure sensitivity, while advanced controllers allow for programming and monitoring of the process.
