The BIACORE 2000 is a system for real-time biomolecular interaction analysis (BIA) using surface plasmon resonance (SPR) technology. The microfluidic system consists of four flow cells, arrange in a serial configuration for single or multi-channel analysis. SPR is a non-invasive optical measuring technique which measures the mass concentration of biomolecules in close proximity to a specially prepared surface. Real-time BIA can be used for studying the interactions of proteins, protein conjugates, nucleic acids, lipid micelles and even larger particles such as wholes cells and viruses. It measures surface concentrations from a few pg/mm2 and can monitor surface concentration on a time scale down to 0.1s. Application areas for the Biacore 2000 include drug design, monoclonal antibody production and infectious disease research, as well as other basic research applications. Some of the major uses of the Biacore 2000 include:

  • Detection of binding partners in screening applications
  • Analysis of multiple binding patterns
  • Epitope mapping studies
  • Measurement of kinetic constants
  • Concentration measurement
  • Monitoring of enzymatic processes

All of our equipment is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test all equipment to confirm that it operates properly and to the manufacturer’s specifications. While we can’t test for a specific analytical application, we will do our best to simulate the conditions under which the equipment will be run. If you have particular testing requirements or requests please let us know and we’ll work with you to make sure these requirements are addressed during testing.
