But lower cost doesn’t mean lower quality: our reconditioned biological safety cabinets all come supplied with new HEPA filters installed by our skilled technicians. Each biosafety cabinet undergoes a complete inspection and a performance review, including inflow velocity measurements, downflow velocity measurements, and HEPA filter integrity testing, to ensure that the cabinet will meet NSF-49, OSHA, and the manufacturer’s operation specifications. We’re happy to provide decontamination documents and copies of test records prior to shipping. American Instrument Exchange also offers a 90 day warranty on all bio hoods and filters.

Types of Bio Safety Cabinets

Biological safety cabinets (also called BSCs, biosafety cabinets or bio hoods) are designed to provide three basic levels of protection: protecting personnel from harmful agents inside the cabinet; protecting products to avoid contamination of the work, experiment, or process; protecting the immediate environment from contaminants contained within the cabinet. These three levels are designated as Class I, Class II, and Class III, respectively. A chart below designates the NSF classifications for bio hoods.

All of the equipment shown on our website is in stock and available. Orders ship from our 30,000 square foot warehouse in Haverhill, MA. Our surplus lab equipment is reconditioned for many types of laboratories, including biotech, biomedical, medical research, chemical, pharmaceutical, and university and hospital research laboratories. We have been a reliable source for used laboratory and scientific equipment since 1969.
