Thermo Precision 3759 Plant Growth Chamber

Plant science research often requires precise control of temperature, lighting, and environmental conditions to produce reliable and repeatable experimental results. Studies involving plant physiology, seed germination, crop science, plant pathology, tissue culture, environmental biology, and photosynthesis all depend on consistent growing conditions throughout extended research protocols. The Thermo Precision 3759 Plant Growth Chamber is designed to meet these demands with a 17.8 cubic foot (504 L) chamber, programmable fluorescent lighting, refrigeration, microprocessor environmental controls, and a temperature range of -10°C to 50°C (or 10°C to 50°C with lights operating). Its spacious interior and dependable environmental regulation make it an excellent solution for research laboratories requiring controlled plant growth conditions.

Although the Precision 3759 represents an earlier generation of Thermo Scientific plant growth chambers, it continues to be valued for its durable construction, dependable environmental performance, and straightforward operation. Its forced-air circulation system, programmable lighting, compressor-based refrigeration, and digital temperature controls provide the stable conditions required for a broad range of plant growth and environmental research applications. Purchasing a refurbished Thermo Precision 3759 from American Instrument Exchange provides laboratories with a proven research-grade plant growth chamber at a substantial savings compared to purchasing a new system.

Designed for Controlled Plant Growth and Environmental Research

The Thermo Precision 3759 is engineered for laboratories that require repeatable environmental conditions for plant growth and biological research. By combining refrigeration, precision heating, programmable fluorescent lighting, and forced-air circulation, the chamber creates a stable growing environment suitable for both routine laboratory studies and long-term research projects. The spacious 17.8 cubic foot interior accommodates multiple experimental groups simultaneously, allowing researchers to maximize chamber utilization while maintaining consistent environmental conditions throughout the workspace.

Unlike a standard laboratory incubator, the Precision 3759 provides integrated environmental controls specifically intended for plant and agricultural research. The refrigeration system allows studies to be conducted at reduced temperatures, while programmable lighting supports controlled photoperiod experiments and growth-cycle simulations. Uniform airflow helps minimize temperature variation throughout the chamber, improving experimental reproducibility across multiple shelving levels. Although this is an older-generation platform, it remains a dependable solution for laboratories seeking reliable plant growth capability without the cost of a new environmental chamber.

The Precision 3759 is frequently used alongside laboratory refrigerators for storing growth media and reagents, laboratory freezers for preserving plant samples and reference materials, analytical balances for measuring biomass and growth characteristics, centrifuges for sample preparation, and microscopes for plant tissue analysis and developmental studies.

Ideal Laboratory Environments

The Thermo Precision 3759 is an excellent choice for university plant science departments, agricultural research stations, biotechnology companies, government agricultural laboratories, environmental research organizations, forestry research facilities, seed testing laboratories, and botanical teaching laboratories. Its combination of refrigeration, programmable lighting, and dependable environmental control makes it particularly well suited for laboratories performing controlled plant growth experiments and long-term agricultural research.

Why Choose the Thermo Precision 3759?

The Thermo Precision 3759 combines dependable environmental control with a spacious research chamber designed specifically for plant growth and agricultural research. Its programmable lighting, refrigeration system, forced-air circulation, and microprocessor controls provide the stable conditions necessary for reproducible plant science experiments across a wide variety of research disciplines.

Whether supporting crop science, plant physiology, seed germination, environmental biology, or botanical education, the Thermo Precision 3759 delivers the consistent environmental performance required for reliable controlled-environment plant research.

Performance and Environmental Stability

The Thermo Precision 3759 Plant Growth Chamber is designed to provide stable environmental conditions for plant science, agricultural, and environmental research applications requiring precise control of temperature and photoperiod. Its compressor-based refrigeration system allows operation from -10°C to 50°C when the chamber lights are off, while the integrated heating system maintains elevated temperatures for germination, propagation, and plant growth studies. When the lighting system is operating, the chamber maintains temperatures from approximately 10°C to 50°C, accommodating the additional heat generated by the fluorescent lamps while preserving environmental stability.

A microprocessor-based controller continuously regulates chamber temperature, and a forced-air circulation system distributes conditioned air evenly throughout the growing area to minimize temperature variation between shelves. This consistent airflow promotes uniform environmental conditions for all samples within the chamber, helping researchers obtain reproducible results across multiple experiments. Rapid recovery following routine door openings further supports long-term studies by reducing temperature fluctuations that could influence plant development or experimental outcomes.

The integrated fluorescent lighting system allows researchers to establish controlled photoperiods for experiments involving plant growth, seed germination, and photosynthetic organisms. By combining programmable lighting with accurate temperature regulation, the Precision 3759 enables laboratories to simulate a variety of environmental conditions within a single chamber. Its large insulated viewing door also allows users to monitor experiments without unnecessarily disturbing the growing environment.

Although this is an earlier-generation plant growth chamber, its dependable environmental controls, durable construction, and spacious interior continue to make it a practical solution for laboratories performing controlled-environment agricultural and biological research.

Typical Samples and Laboratory Applications

The Thermo Precision 3759 supports a wide variety of plant science and environmental research applications. Typical samples include seeds, seedlings, Arabidopsis, cereal crops, vegetable crops, ornamental plants, mosses, algae, cyanobacteria, fungi, plant tissue cultures, environmental microorganisms, agricultural specimens, soil samples, and forestry research materials.

Common laboratory applications include seed germination testing, plant physiology research, photosynthesis studies, crop science, plant pathology, agricultural biotechnology, environmental biology, weed science, forestry research, controlled-environment agriculture, botanical education, plant breeding, and long-term growth studies requiring repeatable environmental conditions. The spacious chamber accommodates multiple experimental groups simultaneously, making it well suited for university research laboratories and agricultural research programs.
