The Thermo Scientific Sorvall Legend XFR Refrigerated Floor Model Centrifuge with TX-1000 Rotor is a refurbished high-capacity laboratory centrifuge designed for biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, clinical laboratories, blood banks, academic research institutions, and core laboratory facilities. This system combines the versatility of the Legend XFR platform with the high-capacity TX-1000 swinging bucket rotor, allowing laboratories to process large sample volumes, blood tubes, conical tubes, bottles, and microplates using a single centrifuge.

Laboratories evaluating refrigerated floor model centrifuges often compare maximum speed, rotor capacity, refrigeration performance, workflow flexibility, and throughput when selecting a centrifuge system. The Thermo Scientific Sorvall Legend XFR delivers speeds up to 15,200 RPM, maximum centrifugal force of 25,314 × g, and supports a wide range of rotor options for everything from routine clinical testing to biotechnology production support. The included TX-1000 rotor provides exceptional high-throughput capability by processing up to 4 × 1,000 mL bottles, 40 × 50 mL conical tubes, 196 blood collection tubes, or 24 microplates, depending on the adapters installed.

At American Instrument Exchange, our technicians inspect and test each centrifuge to verify proper refrigeration performance, motor operation, braking systems, lid lock functionality, rotor operation, and controller performance prior to shipment. American Instrument Exchange offers used and refurbished laboratory centrifuges for sale, including refrigerated centrifuges, floor model centrifuges, benchtop centrifuges, microcentrifuges, and bioprocessing centrifuges from leading manufacturers including Thermo Scientific, Beckman Coulter, Eppendorf, and more.

Common Applications and Refrigerated vs. Non-Refrigerated Operation

The Thermo Scientific Sorvall Legend XFR is commonly used for blood component preparation, cell culture harvesting, biotechnology research, pharmaceutical sample preparation, microbiology, clinical laboratory testing, vaccine development, conical tube processing, bottle centrifugation, and high-throughput microplate applications.

Its refrigerated chamber helps maintain sample integrity throughout centrifugation by protecting temperature-sensitive proteins, enzymes, nucleic acids, blood products, and cultured cells. Compared with non-refrigerated centrifuges, the Legend XFR provides superior protection for biological samples while maintaining the throughput required for demanding laboratory environments.

Rotor Compatibility and Included Accessories

Rotor flexibility is one of the major advantages of the Thermo Scientific Sorvall Legend XFR.

This particular centrifuge includes:

  • Thermo Scientific TX-1000 swinging bucket rotor

  • TX-1000 buckets
