Percival Scientific I-36LLVL Environmental Chamber

Controlled-environment chambers are essential for research programs that require precise regulation of temperature, airflow, and programmable lighting. The Percival Scientific I-36LLVL Environmental Chamber is engineered to provide highly reproducible environmental conditions for plant growth, seed germination, insect rearing, microbiology, and biological research. Featuring a 29.7 cubic foot (0.8 m³) chamber, independently programmable horizontal and vertical LED lighting, four growing tiers, and the advanced IntellusUltra™ controller, the I-36LLVL allows researchers to accurately reproduce environmental conditions for long-term experimental studies.

Designed specifically for controlled-environment research, the I-36LLVL combines programmable lighting, refrigeration, heating, and uniform horizontal airflow within a self-contained cabinet. Two independently programmable LED lighting systems provide uniform illumination from both above and the sides of plant canopies, making the chamber particularly effective for plant physiology, Arabidopsis research, tissue culture, insect studies, and seed germination experiments. Purchasing a refurbished Percival Scientific I-36LLVL Environmental Chamber from American Instrument Exchange provides laboratories with a premium environmental research platform at a substantial savings compared to purchasing new equipment.

Designed for Plant Growth and Environmental Research

The Percival I-36LLVL is designed for researchers who require repeatable environmental conditions with programmable lighting and precise temperature control. Independent horizontal and vertical LED arrays provide more uniform light distribution than traditional overhead-only lighting, helping improve canopy penetration while reducing shading effects that can influence experimental outcomes. The chamber's programmable controller allows users to develop complex lighting and temperature profiles that simulate natural day/night cycles or specialized research protocols.

Horizontal airflow maintains consistent environmental conditions across all four growing tiers, while the insulated cabinet construction helps maintain stable temperatures throughout extended experiments. These features make the I-36LLVL particularly valuable for studies where even small environmental variations can influence plant growth, seed development, or biological responses.

Common Applications

The Percival Scientific I-36LLVL Environmental Chamber is commonly used for:

  • Plant growth studies

  • Arabidopsis research

  • Seed germination

  • Plant physiology

  • Crop science research

  • Controlled environment agriculture

  • Tissue culture

  • Entomology and insect rearing

  • Drosophila research

  • Microbiology

  • Bioassays

  • Product stability testing

Environmental chambers are frequently used alongside laboratory refrigerators for sample storage, ultralow temperature freezers for long-term preservation, biosafety cabinets for sterile culture preparation, and centrifuges for routine laboratory sample processing.

Ideal Laboratory Environments

The Percival Scientific I-36LLVL is an excellent choice for agricultural research facilities, plant biology laboratories, universities, biotechnology companies, government research institutions, environmental science laboratories, seed development programs, crop improvement facilities, and life science research organizations. Its programmable lighting, stable temperature control, and flexible four-tier growing configuration make it particularly well suited for laboratories investigating plant development, environmental responses, and controlled growth conditions.

Why Choose a Dual-Direction LED Environmental Chamber?

Many plant growth chambers rely solely on overhead lighting, which can create uneven light distribution as plants mature. The Percival I-36LLVL addresses this challenge by combining independently programmable horizontal and vertical LED arrays that improve light penetration throughout the canopy while allowing researchers to customize illumination profiles for different experimental protocols.

Combined with precise temperature regulation, programmable environmental control, and uniform horizontal airflow, the I-36LLVL provides an exceptionally versatile platform for plant science, insect biology, seed germination, and other controlled-environment research applications requiring reproducible experimental conditions.

Percival Scientific I-36LLVL Environmental Chamber Performance and Environmental Stability

The Percival Scientific I-36LLVL Environmental Chamber is engineered to provide highly reproducible environmental conditions for plant growth, seed germination, entomology, and controlled-environment biological research. Its refrigeration and heating systems maintain stable chamber temperatures while the horizontal airflow design promotes uniform environmental conditions across all four growing tiers. This consistent airflow helps minimize temperature variation between shelves, allowing researchers to cultivate plants and biological specimens under repeatable experimental conditions.

One of the defining features of the I-36LLVL is its independently programmable horizontal and vertical LED lighting system. Unlike traditional growth chambers that illuminate only from above, the I-36LLVL delivers light from multiple directions to improve canopy penetration and reduce shading as plants mature. Researchers can independently adjust LED output from 5% to 100% and create customized day/night lighting schedules using the IntellusUltra™ controller, making the chamber suitable for a wide range of photoperiod and environmental simulation studies.

Percival Scientific I-36LLVL Typical Samples and Laboratory Applications

The Percival I-36LLVL is designed to support a broad range of plant science, agricultural, and biological research applications. Typical samples include Arabidopsis, crop seedlings, cereal grains, soybean plants, corn, wheat, rice, legumes, tissue cultures, seedlings, plant cuttings, mosses, algae, fungal cultures, insects, Drosophila, beneficial insects, pollinators, and other biological specimens requiring precisely controlled environmental conditions.

Researchers commonly use the chamber for plant physiology, crop improvement, seed germination, photoperiod studies, climate simulation, environmental stress research, plant pathology, insect rearing, agricultural biotechnology, ecological research, microbiology, and controlled-environment experiments where consistent temperature and programmable lighting are essential.
