The Thermo Scientific 1345 biosafety cabinets incorporate advanced brushless DC motor technology, significantly improving energy efficiency, safety, and reliability. These DC motors not only reduce energy costs but also enhance overall system dependability while lowering air conditioning expenses. Additionally, they optimize environmental protection, making them a sustainable choice for your laboratory.
To further increase energy efficiency, the cabinets include a night-set-back mode that maintains a clean workspace while conserving energy. When the front sash is closed, the intelligent speed control system automatically decreases the blower speed to 30%.
This feature extends the life of the HEPA filter and ensures a sterile work environment even during downtime. Compared to similar models, this reduced flow mode is 75% more energy efficient, offering unmatched performance and operational cost savings.

The 1300 Series A2 biosafety cabinets elevate safety and containment through an innovative airflow system. Independent supply and exhaust blowers automatically balance downflow and inflow/exhaust velocities, ensuring consistently safe working conditions. This advanced design provides reliable protection for both users and samples.
For added comfort, the Thermo 1345 biosafety cabinet features a 10° front slope that minimizes operator fatigue during extended use. The reduced noise level creates a focused work environment free from distractions, while the spacious, unobstructed work surface enhances both productivity and safety.
Additionally, the flat, single-piece stainless steel work tray simplifies cleaning, saving time and effort. Thoughtfully designed armrests sit above the intake grill, enabling users to reach further into the cabinet while maintaining safe airflow, ensuring both comfort and protection.
Our technicians test each biosafety cabinet and clean bench to ensure that the controls and blower motor work properly, as well as ensuring that the HEPA filter is suitable for use in lab conditions. Our testing procedure includes all the elements of certification in order to ensure that the unit will pass certification once it is at your site.
If you're in the Greater Boston or New England area, contact our sister company, AIE Lab Services, to schedule your certification. In many cases, certification can be completed on the day of or following delivery. Their services include testing, certification, repair, replacement, decontamination, and removal of biosafety cabinets and clean benches. You can reach them at 978-521-2221 or by email at services@aielaboratoryservices.com.

Can you provide more pictures of the Thermo 1345? I want to see the exact unit I’m purchasing.
Absolutely. The pictures on our website are representative and all of our equipment comes fully cleaned – we want the equipment to look it’s best when installed in your lab. We’re happy to send pictures of a specific unit so that you can see the condition prior to purchase/shipping.
I’m trying to decide between a 6’ wide biosafety cabinet and a 4’ wide biosafety cabinet. Do you have any suggestions?
If you have the space and budget, and all other factors being equal, we generally recommend going with the largest biosafety cabinet you can fit in your lab. This will provide your lab personnel with flexibility and space to work. Operating costs between a 6’ and 4’ model of the same brand/vintage are minimal, as are replacement filters.
Do you offer white glove delivery service for biosafety cabinets like the Thermo 1345?
For customers in New England our movers can bring biosafety cabinets into the lab and set the units in place on the stands, after which our certifiers are able to make sure the unit is fully functional and operating to specification.
If you are outside of New England please contact our sales team – we may be able to offer a recommendation on a local moving company or other provider to assist you with installation of the BSC.
