The Hirayama HV-50II is a 50-liter vertical autoclave designed for efficient and reliable sterilization in laboratory and medical settings. It features a user-friendly color touch panel, allowing for easy operation and monitoring. The autoclave offers five sterilization modes—Liquid, Solid, Waste, Agar, and Dissolution—each customizable with up to eight preset programs.
Safety is enhanced through a dual interlock mechanism that locks the lid based on chamber pressure and temperature, ensuring secure operation.
Additionally, the HV-50II includes a deodorization function to minimize odors during heating and unloading, contributing to a more pleasant working environment. Optional upgrades such as a forced cooling unit can further optimize performance by reducing unloading times.
Four modes: liquid with warming, liquid without warming, solid and dissolution.
- Dual detection system for residual air. The residual air which may cause sterilization failure is dually detected to always maintain the appropriate sterilization conditions for loads. The residual air is detected at the process before pressurization (during operation of an air removal timer) and at the process of pressurization air exhaust.
- Exhaust level can be set digitally. Fine exhaust can be performed automatically. Fine exhaust adjustment is possible even in exhaust.
- Memory function. Set contents can be registered for each mode.
- Auto-start. Program autoclave to start 1 min to 1 week later.
Our technicians test all equipment to confirm that it operates properly and to the manufacturer’s specifications. We can’t test for a specific analytical application. We do our best to simulate the conditions under which the equipment runs in a lab. If you have particular testing requirements or requests please let us know.

So what’s the advantage of a vertical autoclave like the Hirayama HV-50II?
One key advantage is the space-saving design. Because the chamber is oriented vertically, vertical models have smaller footprints than horizontal autoclaves, making them ideal for compact labs and crowded work areas. Vertical autoclaves are also easy to load and unload, particularly for liquids, culture media, and glassware, since gravity helps keep containers stable during sterilization.
Does the Hirayama HV-50II need to be connected to a water source?
No – that’s another advantage: users only need to fill the reservoir with water before each sterilization run rather than connecting or permanently plumbing the unit. This allows for mobility and flexibility.
Do I need special training to use this autoclave?
The operator’s manual from Hirayama provides detailed instructions for safe usage as well as information about programming runs, monitoring, safety features, and auto-starts.
What do you mean by “demo unit”?
