Thermo Scientific Savant SC250EXP SpeedVac Vacuum Concentration System

Some laboratory workflows aren't limited by centrifugation—they're limited by what happens afterward. Once DNA has been purified, peptides isolated, HPLC fractions collected, or compounds synthesized, laboratories often need to remove solvents quickly without exposing valuable samples to excessive heat or risking sample loss. That's exactly what the Thermo Scientific Savant SC250EXP SpeedVac System was designed to do.

This particular Thermo Scientific Savant SC250EXP SpeedVac System is a complete vacuum concentration package that includes the SC250 Express concentrator, microplate rotor, Thermo Scientific RVT4104 refrigerated vapor trap, and vacuum pump. Designed for both aqueous and aggressive organic solvents, the system combines centrifugal force, vacuum, infrared heating, and refrigerated solvent recovery to provide rapid, controlled evaporation for demanding pharmaceutical, biotechnology, genomics, proteomics, and analytical chemistry applications.

At American Instrument Exchange, every SpeedVac system is professionally inspected and tested before shipment. Our technicians verify chamber operation, vacuum performance, rotor function, heating controls, vapor trap refrigeration, controller operation, and overall system performance to ensure dependable operation. American Instrument Exchange offers professionally refurbished laboratory centrifuges, vacuum concentrators, SpeedVac systems, ultracentrifuges, refrigerated centrifuges, and other laboratory equipment from Thermo Scientific, Beckman Coulter, Eppendorf, and other leading manufacturers.

Features of the Thermo Scientific Savant SC250EXP SpeedVac System

  • Complete system includes:

    • SC250 Express SpeedVac concentrator

    • Microplate rotor

    • Thermo Scientific RVT4104 refrigerated vapor trap

    • Vacuum pump

  • Designed for aqueous and aggressive organic solvents

  • Adjustable temperature range from 45°C to 80°C in 5°C increments

  • Four infrared heating lamps for efficient evaporation

  • Dual vacuum control with RAMP and LEVEL modes to reduce sample bumping and foaming

  • Chemical-resistant vapor path with PTFE- and Kalrez®-lined components

  • Ideal for drug discovery, combinatorial chemistry, proteomics, genomics, metabolomics, and pharmaceutical research

  • 90-day warranty included from American Instrument Exchange

  • Refurbished and tested by American Instrument Exchange

Unlike a basic centrifugal evaporator, the SC250EXP system combines a refrigerated vapor trap and programmable vacuum control, allowing laboratories to safely concentrate challenging solvents such as DMSO and DMF while helping protect the vacuum pump from solvent contamination.

Why Laboratories Choose the Thermo Scientific Savant SC250EXP

One of the biggest advantages of the SC250EXP is that it arrives as a complete evaporation system rather than a standalone concentrator. By integrating the concentrator, refrigerated vapor trap, and vacuum pump, laboratories can begin processing samples immediately without sourcing additional major components.

Researchers working with pharmaceutical compounds, combinatorial chemistry libraries, LC/MS sample preparation, peptide purification, and nucleic acid workflows also appreciate the system's intelligent vacuum management. The programmable RAMP and LEVEL vacuum modes reduce sample bumping while improving reproducibility across multiple runs.

Thermo Scientific Savant SC250EXP Common Applications

The SC250EXP SpeedVac system is commonly used for:

  • DNA and RNA concentration

  • PCR product preparation

  • Peptide and protein sample preparation

  • Drug discovery

  • Combinatorial chemistry

  • LC/MS sample preparation

  • HPLC fraction concentration

  • Oligonucleotide purification

  • Pharmaceutical research

  • Metabolomics and proteomics workflows

Its combination of controlled vacuum, infrared heating, and refrigerated solvent recovery allows laboratories to efficiently remove solvents while minimizing sample degradation and protecting heat-sensitive compounds.

Thermo Scientific Savant SC250EXP Included Components

This particular system includes:

  • Thermo Scientific SC250 Express SpeedVac concentrator

  • Microplate rotor

  • Thermo Scientific RVT4104 refrigerated vapor trap

  • Vacuum pump

  • Glass condensation flask

The included RVT4104 refrigerated vapor trap condenses solvent vapors before they reach the vacuum pump, extending pump life while improving solvent recovery and laboratory safety. The integrated system is especially well suited for laboratories routinely working with organic solvents and high-throughput sample preparation.
