Some laboratory workflows aren't limited by centrifugation—they're limited by what happens afterward. Once DNA has been purified, peptides isolated, HPLC fractions collected, or compounds synthesized, laboratories often need to remove solvents quickly without exposing valuable samples to excessive heat or risking sample loss. That's exactly what the Thermo Scientific Savant SC250EXP SpeedVac System was designed to do.
This particular Thermo Scientific Savant SC250EXP SpeedVac System is a complete vacuum concentration package that includes the SC250 Express concentrator, microplate rotor, Thermo Scientific RVT4104 refrigerated vapor trap, and vacuum pump. Designed for both aqueous and aggressive organic solvents, the system combines centrifugal force, vacuum, infrared heating, and refrigerated solvent recovery to provide rapid, controlled evaporation for demanding pharmaceutical, biotechnology, genomics, proteomics, and analytical chemistry applications.
At American Instrument Exchange, every SpeedVac system is professionally inspected and tested before shipment. Our technicians verify chamber operation, vacuum performance, rotor function, heating controls, vapor trap refrigeration, controller operation, and overall system performance to ensure dependable operation. American Instrument Exchange offers professionally refurbished laboratory centrifuges, vacuum concentrators, SpeedVac systems, ultracentrifuges, refrigerated centrifuges, and other laboratory equipment from Thermo Scientific, Beckman Coulter, Eppendorf, and other leading manufacturers.

Refurbished and tested by American Instrument Exchange
Unlike a basic centrifugal evaporator, the SC250EXP system combines a refrigerated vapor trap and programmable vacuum control, allowing laboratories to safely concentrate challenging solvents such as DMSO and DMF while helping protect the vacuum pump from solvent contamination.
One of the biggest advantages of the SC250EXP is that it arrives as a complete evaporation system rather than a standalone concentrator. By integrating the concentrator, refrigerated vapor trap, and vacuum pump, laboratories can begin processing samples immediately without sourcing additional major components.
Researchers working with pharmaceutical compounds, combinatorial chemistry libraries, LC/MS sample preparation, peptide purification, and nucleic acid workflows also appreciate the system's intelligent vacuum management. The programmable RAMP and LEVEL vacuum modes reduce sample bumping while improving reproducibility across multiple runs.
The SC250EXP SpeedVac system is commonly used for:
DNA and RNA concentration
PCR product preparation
Peptide and protein sample preparation
Drug discovery
Combinatorial chemistry
LC/MS sample preparation
HPLC fraction concentration
Oligonucleotide purification
Pharmaceutical research
Metabolomics and proteomics workflows
Its combination of controlled vacuum, infrared heating, and refrigerated solvent recovery allows laboratories to efficiently remove solvents while minimizing sample degradation and protecting heat-sensitive compounds.
This particular system includes:
Thermo Scientific SC250 Express SpeedVac concentrator
Microplate rotor
Thermo Scientific RVT4104 refrigerated vapor trap
Vacuum pump
Glass condensation flask
The included RVT4104 refrigerated vapor trap condenses solvent vapors before they reach the vacuum pump, extending pump life while improving solvent recovery and laboratory safety. The integrated system is especially well suited for laboratories routinely working with organic solvents and high-throughput sample preparation.

The Thermo Scientific Savant SC250EXP is a complete benchtop vacuum concentration system that ships via freight because of the multiple integrated components. Laboratories should verify available bench space, electrical service, and adequate ventilation prior to installation.
American Instrument Exchange can assist with shipping coordination and installation planning to help ensure your SpeedVac system arrives safely and is ready for operation.
Every SpeedVac system sold by American Instrument Exchange is professionally inspected and tested prior to shipment. We verify concentrator performance, heating operation, vacuum integrity, refrigerated vapor trap performance, controller functionality, and overall system reliability.
Many laboratories purchasing a vacuum concentrator are also outfitting molecular biology or analytical chemistry laboratories. We also offer professionally refurbished laboratory freezers and ultra-low freezers, laboratory incubators and biosafety cabinets to support complete laboratory build-outs.
American Instrument Exchange and AIE Laboratory Services provide diagnostics, preventative maintenance, depot repair, and support for laboratory centrifuges, SpeedVac systems, vacuum concentrators, and many other laboratory instruments.
Our service team also supports refrigerated centrifuges, laboratory freezers, ultra-low temperature freezers, incubators, and biosafety cabinets to help laboratories maximize equipment uptime.
This system includes the SC250 Express concentrator, microplate rotor, Thermo Scientific RVT4104 refrigerated vapor trap, and vacuum pump, providing a complete vacuum concentration solution.
The SC250EXP is designed for both aqueous samples and many aggressive organic solvents, including high-boiling solvents commonly used in pharmaceutical and combinatorial chemistry workflows.
The refrigerated vapor trap condenses solvent vapors before they enter the vacuum pump, helping extend pump life, improve solvent recovery, and reduce maintenance requirements.
The programmable RAMP mode gradually applies vacuum pressure, reducing sample bumping, foaming, and solvent boil-over when concentrating sensitive samples.
Yes. The SC250EXP is widely used for drug discovery, combinatorial chemistry, peptide preparation, metabolomics, proteomics, and analytical chemistry applications where rapid, controlled solvent removal is required.
For laboratories requiring a complete SpeedVac system, a professionally refurbished SC250EXP provides high-performance vacuum concentration capabilities at a significant savings compared with purchasing a comparable new system.
Yes. AIE Laboratory Services provides diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repair support for many laboratory vacuum concentrators, SpeedVac systems, refrigerated centrifuges, and related laboratory equipment.
