The Bio-Rad C1000 Touch Thermal Cycler is a versatile, high-performance PCR system designed for accurate, reproducible DNA amplification across a wide range of molecular biology applications. Paired with a 96-deep well reaction module, this system enables high-throughput workflows while maintaining precise thermal control critical for sensitive assays.
Engineered with a Peltier-based heating and cooling system, the C1000 delivers fast ramp rates and exceptional temperature accuracy (±0.2°C), ensuring consistent amplification results. Its intuitive touchscreen interface simplifies protocol setup, editing, and storage, making it ideal for both routine PCR workflows and advanced research applications.
The included 96-well deep well module accommodates higher sample volumes (up to 2 mL per well), making it particularly valuable for large-scale PCR, cloning workflows, and sample-intensive protocols. Uniform temperature distribution (±0.4°C well-to-well) ensures reproducibility across all samples.
Applications include PCR (polymerase chain reaction) amplification, gene expression analysis, genotyping and SNP analysis, cloning and sequencing workflows, high-throughput molecular biology research, clinical and diagnostic assay development, and more.

Most of our equipment is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test all equipment to confirm that it operates properly and to the manufacturer’s specifications. While we can’t test for a specific analytical application, we will do our best to simulate the conditions under which the equipment will be run.
If you have particular testing requirements or requests please let us know. We’ll work with you to make sure these requirements are addressed during testing.
The photos above are representative. Please bear in mind that the equipment shown is currently in storage in our warehouse and that in addition to testing each machine we will clean all the equipment thoroughly prior to shipment.
We often have multiple units of each model in stock and sometimes we're unable to feature photos of every single unit. At your request, we can provide photos of the equipment in your order after it has been tested and cleaned.
Yes, users can create and edit different protocols for seven different parameters, including temperature range, gradient range, increment, ramp rate, and time/extended time. We can provide a PDF copy of the manual with information on programming to customers who purchase a C1000 from American Instrument Exchange.
Yes, unless otherwise specified every thermal cycler base we sell includes a reaction module. If you are looking for a certain configuration or plate style you don’t see on our website please contact us – we have a large warehouse and sometimes have extra modules available that are not shown on our product pages.
Absolutely, although if you do not see any real-time detection modules on our site we may not have them in stock. That being said, any of the C1000 thermal cycler bases that we have available can be paired with either a CFX96 or CFX384 real-time module.
Shipping method will depend on your location. For local deliveries in New England and Greater Boston we will box the Biorad C1000 and ship with a courier or box truck. For customers outside of our local delivery area we recommend double-boxed packaging, secured on a pallet.
Yes, we also stock Biorad S1000 models. Each C1000 can be paired with up to three S1000 units, all of which can run under the control of the C1000. Please contact our sales team for information on pricing and availability.
Yes, all equipment from American Instrument Exchange comes with a warranty.
Used/reconditioned/refurbished equipment is tested to make sure it operates to the manufacturer's specifications and comes with a 90-day warranty (unless otherwise noted). New equipment comes with a warranty from the manufacturer.
Testing requirements vary across all the equipment categories we sell. Temperature controlled units are tested with NIST traceable probes and data loggers. Gaskets, external housing, glass, handles, controls and control screens are all thoroughly inspected for integrity and functionality.
We test all equipment using the manufacturer's parameters and specifications to confirm that the unit operates properly.
We can ship products both nationally and internationally using a well-established network of transporters. Smaller items will ship via UPS. Larger equipment will be palletized and shipped either LTL or air-ride, depending on the specific equipment and/or delivery requirements.
American Instrument Exchange will accept the return of any product that is not working as represented and could not be replaced or repaired to the customer's satisfaction during the warranty period. Customers who cancel orders after refurbishing has begun will be subject to a cancellation and restocking fee of between 20% and 40%.
