The Buchi R-100 rotary evaporator system is a high-quality, entry level Rotavapor to meet the essential needs in classical laboratory applications. It is capable of a manually adjustable rotation speed of 20 to 280 rpm and equipped with an action jack lift for manual lifting of the evaporating flask.
The Rotavapor Buchi R-100 rotary evaporator system with which single-stage distillation can be carried out quickly without unduly stressing the product. The basis of the process is the evaporation and condensing of solvents using a rotating evaporating flask under vacuum. Distillation under vacuum increases capacity and is more gentle on the product.
The product heats in the evaporating flask by the heating bath. The rotary drive unit evenly rotates the evaporating flask. This constantly mixes the product, thereby increasing the evaporation rate. Rotation also prevents localized overheating and delayed evaporation.
The vapor passes from the evaporating flask through the vapor duct into the cooling section (condenser). There, the thermal energy of the vapor transfers to the coolant fluid so that the vapor re-condenses. The resulting solvent is collected in the receiving flask and can then be reused or properly disposed of.
The Vacuum Pump V-100 is designed for evacuating laboratory apparatus with the aid of a PTFE membrane. It can be operated either as a standalone device or combined with optional accessories such as an interface unit and a secondary cold trap to form a complete vacuum system.
Our technicians test all equipment to confirm that it operates properly and to the manufacturer’s specifications. If you have particular testing requirements or requests please let us know.
The photos above are representative. Please bear in mind that the equipment shown is currently in storage in our warehouse. In addition to testing each machine we will clean all the equipment thoroughly prior to shipment.
We often have multiple units of each model in stock and sometimes we're unable to feature photos of every single unit. At your request, we can provide photos of the equipment in your order after testing and cleaning.

Q: What size flasks are compatible with the R-100?
A: The system supports evaporating flask capacities from 50 mL up to 4,000 mL, depending on the glassware assembly chosen.
Q: What types of applications is the Buchi R-100 suited for?
A: It’s designed for distillation, concentration, drying, recrystallization, and similar solvent removal tasks in pharmaceutical, chemical, and research labs.
Q: What temperatures and speeds does the Buchi R-100 support?
A: The heating bath temperature is adjustable from about 20 °C up to 95 °C, and rotation speeds range from 20 – 280 rpm, allowing flexibility for many solvent systems.
Q: How do I lift the evaporation flask? It is heavy or difficult?
A: The R-100 uses a manual lift mechanism, providing smooth and controlled adjustment of the flask into and out of the heating bath. The new lift mechanism design by Buchi is even easier to lift than previous versions.
Q: How often should I clean the glassware?
A: Frequency of cleaning will depend mostly on frequency of use. Clean glassware after each major use to prevent residue buildup. Detach and wash condenser and flasks carefully with appropriate solvents and detergents based on your samples.
Q: Is this model still in production?
A: The R-100 has historically been a flagship economical model, but Buchi’s lineup evolves constantly. Check directly with the manufacturer or authorized distributor for current availability and next-generation models.
