The Thermo Scientific CryoPlus 4 storage system provides a combination of liquid nitrogen storage reliability and microprocessor technology. Storage capacity of up to 38,500 2.0 mL vials make the most of your laboratory storage space.
16 preset audible and visual alarm combinations provide maximum product protection. Automatic defogger incorporated into the manual fill index to improve visibility during retrieval. Liquid level sensor and fill port within vacuum space, for maximum storage and sensor protection. Front-mounted key lock and rear-mounted recessed power switch; control panel can also be locked. Temperature sleeve (included) provides colder temperatures and efficient vapor phase operation.
Precise liquid level control with over 16 parameters; with autofill system. Control panel mounted on top for convenient access and easy touchpad programming. Digital temperature display sensor located under the lid; this indicates the highest temperature reading inside the tank. 24 tricolor LEDs continuously display actual liquid nitrogen level and high-level/low-level setpoints.
This Thermo Forma CryoPlus 4 is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test all equipment to confirm that it operates properly and to the manufacturer’s specifications. We can’t test for a specific analytical application. We do our best to simulate laboratory conditions in which the equipment runs.
Additionally, if you have specific testing requirements or requests, please inform us. We address these requirements during testing.
The photos above are representative. The equipment shown is currently in storage in our warehouse. In addition to testing each machine we clean all equipment thoroughly prior to shipment.
We often have multiple units of each model in stock. Sometimes we're unable to feature pictures of every single unit. At your request, we can provide pictures of the equipment in your order after testing and cleaning.

What is the Thermo Scientific CryoPlus 4 used for?
The CryoPlus 4 is a liquid nitrogen (LN₂) cryogenic storage system designed for long-term preservation of a variety of biological samples including (but not limited to) cell lines, tissues, blood components, and other temperature-sensitive materials. Liquid nitrogen storage systems are ubiquitous in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, clinical, and academic research laboratories. The CryoPlus 4 supports both liquid-phase and vapor-phase storage, allowing laboratories to store samples at extremely low temperatures for extended periods.
How does the automatic fill system work?
The automatic liquid nitrogen fill system on the CryoPlus 4 maintains preset LN₂ levels within the storage vessel. Sensors continuously monitor the liquid level and trigger a solenoid valve that opens to refill the tank when levels fall below a programmed threshold.
This helps ensure consistent cryogenic conditions and reduces the need for manual refilling. (Although in case of a power outage or other emergency the unit can be filled manually to maintain low temperatures and preserve samples.)
What monitoring and alarms does the CryoPlus 4 have?
The system features multiple safety and monitoring features, including:
These alerts help notify users of conditions such as low LN₂ levels, power issues, or temperature changes.
How long can the CryoPlus 4 hold liquid nitrogen without refilling?
Under static conditions (with no lid openings and an empty chamber), the system can maintain liquid nitrogen for approximately 55 days. The insulated design and low evaporation rate are designed to hold this long. Actual holding time will vary based on usage, environmental conditions, and lid openings.
Yes, all equipment from American Instrument Exchange comes with a warranty.
Used/reconditioned/refurbished equipment is tested to make sure it operates to the manufacturer's specifications and comes with a 90-day warranty (unless otherwise noted). New equipment comes with a warranty from the manufacturer.
Testing requirements vary across all the equipment categories we sell. Temperature controlled units are tested with NIST traceable probes and data loggers. Gaskets, external housing, glass, handles, controls and control screens are all thoroughly inspected for integrity and functionality.
We test all equipment using the manufacturer's parameters and specifications to confirm that the unit operates properly.
We can ship products both nationally and internationally using a well-established network of transporters. Smaller items will ship via UPS. Larger equipment will be palletized and shipped either LTL or air-ride, depending on the specific equipment and/or delivery requirements.
American Instrument Exchange will accept the return of any product that is not working as represented and could not be replaced or repaired to the customer's satisfaction during the warranty period. Customers who cancel orders after refurbishing has begun will be subject to a cancellation and restocking fee of between 20% and 40%.
