Beckman Coulter J2-HC High-Speed Refrigerated Floor Model Centrifuge

The Beckman Coulter J2-HC High-Speed Refrigerated Floor Model Centrifuge is a refurbished laboratory centrifuge designed for biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical laboratories, microbiology laboratories, academic research institutions, clinical laboratories, and pilot-scale production facilities. The J2-HC combines high-speed refrigerated centrifugation with exceptional rotor flexibility, making it an economical solution for laboratories that routinely process larger sample volumes while maintaining temperature control.

Laboratories evaluating high-speed floor model centrifuges often compare maximum speed, maximum centrifugal force, rotor compatibility, sample capacity, refrigeration performance, and long-term reliability when selecting a centrifuge system. The Beckman J2-HC delivers speeds up to 18,000 RPM, centrifugal forces up to 47,900 × g, and accommodates sample volumes up to 3 liters, depending on the installed rotor. Its robust construction and broad compatibility with Beckman J-Series rotors have made it a dependable workhorse in research and production laboratories for decades.

At American Instrument Exchange, our technicians inspect and test each centrifuge to verify proper refrigeration performance, motor operation, braking systems, lid lock functionality, rotor operation, and controller performance prior to shipment. American Instrument Exchange offers used and refurbished laboratory centrifuges for sale, including refrigerated centrifuges, floor model centrifuges, benchtop centrifuges, microcentrifuges, and large-capacity bioprocessing centrifuge systems from leading manufacturers including Beckman Coulter, Thermo Scientific, Eppendorf, and more.

Beckman Coulter J2-HC Overview

The Beckman Coulter J2-HC is engineered for laboratories requiring dependable refrigerated centrifugation across a broad range of applications. Its high-capacity design and compatibility with numerous Beckman fixed-angle and swinging bucket rotors allow researchers to process bacterial cultures, mammalian cells, blood products, proteins, tissue homogenates, and other biological samples efficiently.

The J2-HC is particularly well suited for laboratories that need the flexibility to perform both routine research and larger-scale sample preparation without investing in a newer premium-priced centrifuge platform.

Common Applications and Refrigerated vs. Non-Refrigerated Operation

The Beckman J2-HC is commonly used for bacterial cell harvesting, mammalian cell culture processing, protein purification, virus preparation, blood component separation, tissue homogenization, fermentation research, pharmaceutical development, and biotechnology sample preparation.

Its refrigerated chamber maintains sample temperature throughout centrifugation, helping preserve proteins, enzymes, nucleic acids, and other temperature-sensitive biological materials. Compared with non-refrigerated floor model centrifuges, the J2-HC offers improved sample protection while delivering the throughput required for larger-volume laboratory workflows.

Rotor Compatibility and Included Accessories

Rotor compatibility is one of the primary advantages of the Beckman J2-HC.

Compatible rotor families include:

  • Fixed-angle rotors
  • Swinging bucket rotors
  • Bottle rotors
  • High-capacity cell harvesting rotors
  • Blood processing rotors
  • Large-volume biotechnology rotors

Depending on the installed rotor, the J2-HC can support applications including:

  • Cell harvesting
  • Protein purification
  • Virus concentration
  • Blood processing
  • Tissue homogenization
  • Fermentation workflows
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Biotechnology production

The J2-HC platform gives laboratories the flexibility to configure the centrifuge for a wide range of research and production applications.

Customers should verify included rotors prior to purchase, as centrifuge configurations can vary between systems.
