Testing

Most of our equipment is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test the performance of all centrifuges and make sure the rotating assembly is properly balanced; the bearings, seals and gaskets on the spindle assembly are in good shape; and the controls work properly.

We also test refrigerated centrifuges to make sure that the machines reaches and hold temperature properly. Additionally, all tolerances are measured and the exterior and interior of all units are fully cleaned. If the unit is being purchased with a rotor, we test the rotor/centrifuge combination together.

Eppendorf 5810R refrigerated centrifuge frequently asked questions

What rotors are compatible with the Eppendorf 5810R? Does American Instrument Exchange sell rotors separately?

The Eppendorf 5810R can be used with several different Eppendorf swing-bucket and fixed-angle rotors so that users can spin different tube formats and plate types. The most frequently used rotors include:

  • A-4-62 swing bucket rotor (large tubes)
  • A-4-81 swing bucket rotor
  • F-45-30-11 fixed-angle rotor (1.5/2 mL tubes)
  • F-34-6-38 rotor (85 mL tubes)
  • Plate rotors for microplates

Overall, the system is compatible with up to 18 rotor options, making it highly flexible for various protocols.

American Instrument Exchange often has rotors in stock and available, although in many circumstances we can only sell them as part of centrifuge/rotor packages. Please contact our sales team for more information on pricing and availability.

How many programs can be stored?

The Eppendorf 5810R centrifuge can store up to 35 user-defined programs, allowing users to save frequently used protocols with specific speed, time, and temperature settings. So basically, you can access a programmed run with a few simple button pushes. This is a convenient feature that is a real time saver while simplifying routine workflows and ensures repeatability between runs.

How loud is the centrifuge during operation?

We often get hear from customers concerned about noise level during operation. Given that the Eppendorf 5810R contains a compressor for refrigeration and a motor that spins loads at high speeds, it will never operate in complete silence. These units are designed to stay within  <56–60 dB(A) during operation – while not silent, this is relatively quiet compared to many high-capacity centrifuges.

What does “refurbished” mean for this centrifuge?

A refurbished centrifuge has been professionally inspected, tested, cleaned, and serviced to ensure proper functionality before resale. We encourage you to contact our sales team for more information about the refurbishment process or questions about the condition of a specific unit that you would  like to purchase.

Does the centrifuge automatically recognize installed rotors?

Yes. Unlike old school centrifuges that required users to input codes corresponding to the rotor being installed, the 5810R features automatic rotor recognition, which identifies the installed rotor and adjusts maximum speed and safety limits accordingly. This helps prevent accidental overspeeding and improves user safety.
