Buchi R-II rotary evaporator system
- Buchi R-II tower
- V-850 vacuum controller
- B-491 heating bath
- V-710 vacuum pump
- 90 day warranty
The Buchi R-II rotary evaporator “rotavapor” system includes the R-II tower, V-850 vacuum controller, B-491 heating bath, and V-710 vacuum pump. The Buchi R-II rotavapor fullfills exactly the fundamental needs of classical laboratory applications in teaching and research, practically and dependably, without compromising quality or safety. With a rotation range from 20rpm to 280rpm, the Buchi R-II system can process samples from 50mL to 4L depending on glassware configuration.
The Buchi V-850 vacuum controller offers pressure regulation to a setpoint, a library containing 43 commonly-used solvents (with the ability to add your own), a timer function, USB interface for data transfer, and control of quick-action jack and Rotavapor rotation.
The Buchi B-491 heating bath can be used as either a water bath to 100°C or oil heating bath to 180°C. Simple knob controls allow for temperature setting as well as selection between water and oil function. The B-491 can accept flasks up to 4L.
The Buchi V-710 is a three-stage, four head PFTE diaphragm pump has a flow rate of 3.1m3/hour and is designed to pull low ultimate vacuum of <2mbar. This pump is oil free and has an operating noise level of only 41 to 55 dBA, depending on application. The ECO2-Mode utilizes low energy consumption and produces low solvent emissions as well as low noise levels, which is ideal for both drying samples overnight and evaporation or high boiling point solvents at low vacuum.
Most of our equipment is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test all equipment to confirm that it operates properly and to the manufacturer’s specifications. While we can’t test for a specific analytical application, we will do our best to simulate the conditions under which the equipment will be run. If you have particular testing requirements or requests please let us know and we’ll work with you to make sure these requirements are addressed during testing.

Buchi rotary evaporators allow users to quickly perform single step distillations in a product friendly manner with the evaporation and condensation of solvents using the rotating evaporating flask. Distillations are typically performed under vacuum, which helps protect the product and increases performance output. While specific conditions will varying depending on application, the basic operation of a Buchi rotovap system is as follows: the solvent is heated over a heating bath while the drive unit rotates the evaporating flask evenly. The solvent vapor flows quickly into the condenser and the energy in the solvent is transferred to the cooling medium. And presto bingo, the solvent condenses and collects in the receiving flask.
The photos above are representative. Please bear in mind that the equipment shown is currently in storage in our warehouse and that in addition to testing each machine we will clean all the equipment thoroughly prior to shipment. We often have multiple units of each model in stock and sometimes we're unable to feature photos of every single unit. At your request, we can provide photos of the equipment in your order after it has been tested and cleaned.
