The Baker SterilGARD e3 SG604 Stainless Steel biosafety cabinet is a premium 6-foot Class II Type A2 biosafety cabinet engineered for laboratories requiring exceptional biological containment, superior cleanability, and long-term durability. Featuring a stainless steel exterior in addition to its stainless steel work chamber, this model is particularly well suited for pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology research, GMP production environments, cleanrooms, and laboratories where frequent cleaning and chemical disinfection are part of everyday operations.
The stainless steel construction provides excellent resistance to corrosion, staining, and repeated exposure to laboratory disinfectants, helping the cabinet maintain both its appearance and structural integrity over years of continuous use. Combined with Baker's advanced airflow engineering, electronically commutated (ECM) blower technology, and ReadySAFE energy-saving standby mode, the SG604 delivers outstanding containment performance while minimizing operating costs.
Its expansive 6-foot work area accommodates large culture vessels, multiple sample racks, laboratory instruments, and high-throughput biological workflows without sacrificing operator comfort or sample protection. HEPA-filtered vertical laminar airflow creates an ISO Class 5 work environment that protects sensitive materials while simultaneously safeguarding laboratory personnel and the surrounding environment.
At American Instrument Exchange, every Baker SG604 Stainless Steel biosafety cabinet is inspected and tested by our technicians before shipment. Unless otherwise specified, new HEPA filters are installed at our facility prior to delivery. The Baker SterilGARD e3 SG604 Stainless Steel is designed for laboratories where contamination control extends beyond airflow performance to include equipment cleanliness, chemical resistance, and long-term durability. While maintaining the same Class II Type A2 containment performance as the standard SG604, this stainless steel configuration provides additional advantages for facilities operating under demanding cleaning protocols or stringent regulatory requirements.
As a Class II Type A2 biosafety cabinet, the SG604 protects laboratory personnel through inward airflow while HEPA-filtered vertical laminar airflow creates an ISO Class 5 environment that safeguards sensitive biological materials from contamination. HEPA-filtered exhaust air protects the surrounding laboratory, making the cabinet suitable for a broad range of microbiology, molecular biology, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology applications.
The cabinet's generous 6-foot workspace provides ample room for large culture vessels, multiple pipetting stations, analytical instruments, and production-scale biological workflows. Researchers can organize complex procedures more efficiently while maintaining proper aseptic technique and biological containment.
The addition of a stainless steel exterior makes this model particularly attractive for laboratories that routinely sanitize equipment using alcohols, peroxide-based disinfectants, quaternary ammonium compounds, or other commonly used cleaning agents. Stainless steel surfaces resist corrosion, staining, and cosmetic deterioration far better than painted finishes, helping the cabinet maintain a professional appearance even after years of intensive use.
Combined with Baker's quiet ECM blower motor, ReadySAFE standby mode, ergonomic front sash, and intuitive digital controls, the SG604 Stainless Steel represents one of the most durable and efficient biosafety cabinets available for demanding laboratory environments.
For many laboratories, the advantages of a stainless steel biosafety cabinet extend well beyond appearance. Pharmaceutical manufacturers, biotechnology companies, GMP production facilities, and cleanroom environments often require equipment capable of withstanding frequent cleaning and repeated exposure to disinfectants without degrading painted surfaces or protective coatings.
The stainless steel exterior of the Baker SG604 provides excellent resistance to corrosion, scratches, staining, and chemical attack. Unlike painted cabinets that may chip or wear over time, stainless steel maintains its appearance while offering smooth, non-porous surfaces that are easier to clean and sanitize between procedures.
This durability is especially valuable in laboratories operating under strict cleaning protocols or regulatory standards, where equipment is disinfected multiple times throughout the day. The result is a biosafety cabinet that not only delivers outstanding biological containment but also supports long-term cleanliness, easier maintenance, and reduced cosmetic wear throughout its service life.
For laboratories investing in equipment expected to remain in service for many years, the stainless steel SG604 represents a premium solution that combines Baker's proven airflow engineering with construction designed for demanding research and manufacturing environments.
Both versions of the Baker SG604 deliver the same dependable Class II Type A2 biological containment, advanced ECM blower technology, ReadySAFE standby mode, and spacious 6-foot work area. The primary distinction is the cabinet's exterior construction.
While the standard SG604 features a painted exterior suitable for most laboratory environments, the stainless steel version is specifically designed for facilities where enhanced corrosion resistance, simplified sanitation, and long-term cosmetic durability are priorities. Laboratories following GMP guidelines or operating cleanrooms frequently prefer stainless steel equipment because it better withstands aggressive cleaning protocols and maintains a professional appearance over years of continuous use.
For organizations planning long equipment lifecycles or operating in highly regulated environments, the stainless steel SG604 offers additional value without compromising the airflow performance and reliability that have made Baker biosafety cabinets a trusted choice worldwide.
The Baker SG604 Stainless Steel is commonly integrated into pharmaceutical manufacturing suites, biotechnology laboratories, vaccine development facilities, cleanrooms, and GMP production environments where contamination control is essential. Its large workspace and durable construction make it an ideal centerpiece for laboratories supporting high-throughput biological workflows.
Frequently paired equipment includes CO₂ incubators for cell culture, refrigerated and floor-model centrifuges for sample preparation, ultra-low temperature freezers for long-term specimen storage, laboratory refrigerators for temperature-sensitive reagents, compound and inverted microscopes for cell analysis, autoclaves for sterilization, and cryogenic storage systems for preserving valuable biological materials.
American Instrument Exchange maintains an extensive inventory of professionally refurbished laboratory equipment, allowing customers to source compatible instruments from a single supplier while reducing procurement time and simplifying laboratory expansion.

This version features a stainless steel exterior in addition to the stainless steel work chamber. The stainless steel construction provides improved resistance to corrosion, simplifies routine cleaning, and better withstands repeated exposure to laboratory disinfectants, making it especially attractive for GMP, pharmaceutical, and cleanroom environments.
Corrosion resistance is a one huge advantage with the stainless steel exterior of this Baker SG604 bio cab. All metal can rust, so in certain environments and applications stainless steel exteriors (in addition to the standard stainless interior working area) is preferrable to painted surfaces.
The self-healing properties of stainless also mean that if the exterior surface is scratched or damaged the chromium in the steel can form a new protective, passive oxide layer when exposed to oxygen, helping to restore its corrosion resistance.
Yes. Stainless steel is widely preferred in pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, and cleanroom facilities because it is durable, easy to sanitize, resistant to corrosion, and maintains a professional appearance even under frequent cleaning protocols.
Unless otherwise specified, American Instrument Exchange installs new HEPA filters as part of the refurbishment process before shipment.
