Alabama R&D Krumdieck Tissue Slicer
The Alabama R&D Krumdieck Tissue Slicer efficiently prepares aseptic, thin slices of live tissue for various in vitro studies, including biochemical, pharmacological, and toxicological research. By minimizing damage to cut surfaces, the slicer ensures uniform and reproducible sample thickness, eliminating common sources of error in tissue slice work.
It can produce slices ranging from approximately 60 to 1,000 microns in thickness at a maximum rate of one slice every three to four seconds.
Specifications
- Model MD1000-A1
- Slice thickness: approximately 60 to 1,000 microns
- Maximum of one slice every 3 to 4 seconds
- Microtome and reservoir with glass trap are sterilizable for aseptic tissue preparation
- 90-day warranty
Features
Designed for optimal tissue preservation, the slicer operates while submerged in a buffer chosen by the operator. This buffer maintains the tissue’s viability by ensuring proper composition, tonicity, pH, temperature, oxygenation, and lubrication. The instrument consists of three main parts: the microtome assembly, the reservoir assembly, and the electrical housing.
For applications requiring sterile conditions, both the microtome and reservoir with the glass trap are sterilizable, making them suitable for prolonged organ culture. When operating aseptically, a footswitch allows the user to control the slicer without compromising the sterility of gloved hands.
Testing
This microtom is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test all equipment to confirm that it operates properly and to the manufacturer’s specifications. We will do our best to simulate the conditions under which the equipment will be run. If you have particular testing requirements or requests please let us know and we’ll work with you to make sure these requirements are addressed during testing.
