BMT Incucell IC55 Laboratory Incubator (LSIS-B2V)

Precise temperature control and gentle, uniform heating are essential for microbiology, pharmaceutical quality control, environmental testing, food safety analysis, and research laboratories. The BMT Incucell IC55 Laboratory Incubator (LSIS-B2V) combines a 55-liter (2.0 cubic foot) chamber with natural gravity convection heating to provide stable incubation conditions while minimizing sample dehydration. Designed for routine laboratory use, the IC55 delivers dependable performance across a wide range of incubation applications in a compact benchtop footprint.

Unlike mechanical convection incubators that continuously circulate heated air with an internal fan, the Incucell IC55 utilizes natural gravity convection to create gentle airflow throughout the chamber. This design helps preserve moisture in agar plates and other sensitive samples while maintaining excellent temperature uniformity. Operating from Ambient +5°C to 100°C, the incubator is well suited for microbiology, pharmaceutical quality control, environmental testing, water analysis, and general laboratory incubation. Purchasing a refurbished BMT Incucell IC55 from American Instrument Exchange allows laboratories to obtain premium European laboratory equipment at substantial savings compared with purchasing new equipment.

Designed for Gentle, Uniform Laboratory Incubation

The BMT Incucell IC55 was engineered for laboratories requiring highly reproducible incubation without the turbulence created by mechanical air circulation. Its 55-liter chamber provides ample capacity for Petri dishes, culture tubes, media bottles, Erlenmeyer flasks, environmental samples, and quality control materials while maintaining stable chamber temperatures throughout extended incubation cycles.

The natural gravity convection heating system distributes warm air evenly without internal circulation fans, reducing airborne particle movement and helping preserve moisture within microbiological media. Combined with a microprocessor controller utilizing fuzzy logic regulation, the IC55 delivers dependable temperature stability with minimal overshoot during heating and rapid recovery following routine door openings.

Common Applications

The BMT Incucell IC55 is commonly used for:

  • Microbiology laboratories

  • Bacterial culture

  • Yeast and fungal culture

  • Pharmaceutical quality control

  • Food safety testing

  • Environmental testing

  • Water quality analysis

  • Clinical laboratories

  • Culture media incubation

  • Stability studies

  • Educational laboratories

  • General laboratory warming

Many laboratories pair the BMT Incucell IC55 with biosafety cabinets for aseptic sample preparation, centrifuges for sample processing, laboratory refrigerators for reagent storage, and ultra-low freezers for long-term sample preservation.

Ideal Laboratory Environments

The BMT Incucell IC55 is well suited for biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, hospitals, universities, environmental testing laboratories, food and beverage quality control facilities, industrial research organizations, and government laboratories requiring dependable gravity convection incubation.

Its compact footprint makes it an excellent choice for laboratories that require precise temperature control while conserving valuable bench space, whether as a primary incubator or a dedicated unit for specialized workflows.

Natural Gravity Convection for Sensitive Laboratory Samples

The defining feature of the BMT Incucell IC55 is its natural gravity convection heating system, which produces slow, gentle airflow throughout the chamber without the use of circulation fans. This design helps minimize evaporation from culture media, reduces airborne particle movement, and creates a stable incubation environment for microbiological cultures and other sensitive laboratory samples.

The fuzzy logic microprocessor controller continuously adjusts heating output to maintain precise chamber temperatures while minimizing overshoot during warm-up and recovery following door openings. The stainless steel AISI 304 chamber, removable interior, rounded corners, and inner tempered glass door simplify routine cleaning while providing long-term durability in demanding laboratory environments.

Sample Storage Recommendations

The 55-liter (2.0 cubic foot) chamber of the BMT Incucell IC55 provides an ideal incubation environment for laboratories processing microbiological cultures, pharmaceutical quality control samples, environmental specimens, and routine research materials. Its compact footprint makes it well suited for laboratories that require dependable incubation performance without sacrificing valuable bench space.

The chamber accommodates Petri dishes, agar plates, culture tubes, media bottles, Erlenmeyer flasks, environmental samples, and other laboratory containers requiring stable incubation temperatures. The incubator includes two adjustable stainless steel shelves with four available shelf positions, allowing users to configure the chamber for a variety of sample sizes while maintaining proper airflow throughout the interior.

For the best temperature uniformity, samples should be evenly distributed throughout the chamber with adequate clearance between shelves and chamber walls. The gravity convection heating system promotes gentle natural airflow, making the IC55 particularly well suited for microbiological applications where minimizing evaporation and preserving sample integrity are important.

Energy Efficiency and Operating Costs

The BMT Incucell IC55 utilizes a natural gravity convection heating system that operates without an internal circulation fan. This simple, reliable design reduces mechanical complexity while providing quiet operation and minimizing routine maintenance requirements.

The microprocessor controller with fuzzy logic regulation continuously monitors chamber temperature and automatically adjusts heating output to maintain stable operating conditions with minimal temperature overshoot. The insulated cabinet helps reduce energy consumption while supporting rapid temperature recovery following routine door openings.

Constructed with a durable AISI 304 stainless steel chamber, removable interior components, and rounded interior corners, the IC55 is designed for years of dependable laboratory service while simplifying routine cleaning and preventative maintenance.

BMT Incucell IC55 Laboratory Incubator Frequently Asked Questions

What applications is the BMT Incucell IC55 designed for?

The IC55 is designed for microbiology, pharmaceutical quality control, food safety testing, environmental analysis, water quality testing, educational laboratories, and general laboratory incubation requiring precise temperature control and gentle heating.

Why choose a gravity convection incubator?

Gravity convection incubators circulate warm air naturally rather than with a mechanical fan. This gentle airflow helps reduce evaporation from agar plates and other moisture-sensitive samples while minimizing airborne particle movement within the chamber.

Can the IC55 be used for mammalian cell culture?

No. The IC55 is a general-purpose laboratory incubator and does not provide CO₂ concentration or humidity control required for mammalian cell culture. Tissue culture applications require a dedicated CO₂ incubator.

What is fuzzy logic temperature control?

The IC55 utilizes a microprocessor controller with fuzzy logic regulation that continuously adjusts heating output based on changing chamber conditions. This helps minimize temperature overshoot while maintaining highly stable incubation temperatures throughout extended laboratory procedures.

Is the incubator easy to clean?

Yes. The removable AISI 304 stainless steel chamber, rounded interior corners, removable shelves, and tempered glass inner door simplify routine cleaning and help laboratories maintain a clean incubation environment.

What laboratories commonly use the IC55?

The BMT Incucell IC55 is widely used in biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, hospitals, universities, environmental laboratories, food and beverage testing facilities, industrial quality control laboratories, and government research organizations.

Does the IC55 operate quietly?

Yes. Because it uses natural gravity convection instead of a fan-driven air circulation system, the incubator operates quietly while providing gentle, uniform heat distribution throughout the chamber.
