Darwin LT024 Refrigerated Environmental Chamber

Maintaining stable environmental conditions is essential for laboratories performing product stability studies, environmental testing, controlled storage, and quality assurance applications. The Darwin LT024 Refrigerated Environmental Chamber provides a large-capacity, temperature-controlled environment designed to support laboratories that require reliable cooling and consistent performance for sensitive materials. With a spacious 24 cubic foot chamber and an operating temperature range of 3°C to 15°C, the LT024 is well suited for a wide range of research, pharmaceutical, agricultural, and industrial testing applications.

Unlike standard laboratory refrigerators, refrigerated environmental chambers are engineered to maintain precise, uniform conditions throughout the chamber while supporting long-duration testing protocols. Purchasing a refurbished Darwin LT024 from American Instrument Exchange provides laboratories with dependable environmental testing equipment at significant savings compared with purchasing new equipment.

Designed for Large-Scale Environmental Testing

The Darwin LT024 was developed for laboratories requiring a spacious, temperature-controlled environment for product conditioning, stability studies, and environmental simulation. Its 24 cubic foot chamber provides ample room for large sample loads, packaged products, research materials, agricultural specimens, and quality control samples while maintaining consistent cooling throughout the chamber.

Unlike conventional cold storage equipment designed primarily for preservation, the LT024 is intended to provide stable environmental conditions for testing protocols where repeatable temperatures are critical. Digital controls and a mechanical refrigeration system work together to maintain reliable chamber performance during both short-term and extended testing applications.

Common Applications

The Darwin LT024 Refrigerated Environmental Chamber is commonly used for:

  • Product stability studies

  • Shelf-life testing

  • Environmental simulation

  • Product conditioning

  • Pharmaceutical research

  • Agricultural research

  • Seed storage and germination studies

  • Food and beverage testing

  • Quality assurance testing

  • Material aging studies

  • Industrial research

  • Controlled sample storage

Many laboratories pair the Darwin LT024 with laboratory refrigerators for routine cold storage, ultra-low freezers for long-term sample preservation, biosafety cabinets for sterile sample preparation, and centrifuges for sample processing prior to environmental testing.

Ideal Laboratory Environments

The Darwin LT024 is well suited for pharmaceutical manufacturers, biotechnology companies, universities, environmental research laboratories, food and beverage testing facilities, agricultural research centers, contract testing laboratories, and industrial quality assurance departments. Its large-capacity chamber makes it especially useful for laboratories processing high sample volumes or conducting long-term environmental studies that require consistent refrigerated conditions.

Reliable Refrigerated Environmental Control

The Darwin LT024 combines a spacious refrigerated chamber with dependable temperature regulation to support laboratories performing environmental testing at temperatures above freezing. Operating from 3°C to 15°C, the chamber is ideal for applications requiring controlled cooling without exposing samples to freezing temperatures. Uniform airflow throughout the chamber promotes consistent temperature distribution, helping laboratories achieve repeatable testing conditions while protecting valuable samples during extended studies.

Typical Samples and Environmental Testing Applications

The 24 cubic foot chamber of the Darwin LT024 provides substantial capacity for laboratories performing environmental testing, stability studies, product conditioning, and controlled refrigerated storage. Its large interior is well suited for pharmaceutical products, packaged materials, agricultural specimens, food and beverage products, research samples, environmental samples, and industrial components that require consistent temperatures between 3°C and 15°C.

The spacious chamber allows laboratories to organize a variety of sample sizes while maintaining adequate airflow throughout the testing area. For optimal performance, samples should be distributed evenly with sufficient clearance around each item to promote uniform air circulation. Proper loading helps maintain consistent chamber temperatures and improves the repeatability of long-term testing protocols.

Energy Efficiency and Operating Costs

The Darwin LT024 was designed for dependable, continuous laboratory operation while maintaining stable refrigerated conditions. Its insulated chamber and mechanical refrigeration system work together to regulate temperatures efficiently, helping reduce fluctuations during extended testing and conditioning cycles.

Because the chamber operates within a moderate refrigerated temperature range rather than ultra-low temperatures, it can provide an energy-efficient solution for laboratories requiring controlled cooling without the operating costs associated with freezer storage. Routine preventative maintenance, including condenser cleaning and inspection of door seals, can help maximize cooling performance and extend the service life of the refrigeration system.

Darwin LT024 Refrigerated Environmental Chamber Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Darwin LT024 designed for?

The Darwin LT024 is designed for laboratories requiring a large-capacity refrigerated environmental chamber for stability testing, product conditioning, environmental simulation, quality assurance testing, and controlled sample storage.

What types of products can be tested in the chamber?

The chamber is commonly used for pharmaceutical products, agricultural materials, food and beverage samples, packaging materials, research specimens, environmental samples, and industrial products requiring controlled refrigerated conditions.

Why use an environmental chamber instead of a laboratory refrigerator?

While both provide refrigerated storage, an environmental chamber is designed to maintain stable, uniform temperatures throughout the chamber for testing applications. This makes it better suited for product validation, stability studies, and environmental simulation where consistent testing conditions are critical.

Is the chamber suitable for long-term testing?

Yes. The Darwin LT024 was designed for continuous operation and is well suited for long-duration environmental studies, product conditioning, and shelf-life testing requiring stable refrigerated temperatures.

What laboratories commonly use the Darwin LT024?

The LT024 is appropriate for pharmaceutical manufacturers, biotechnology laboratories, universities, agricultural research facilities, food and beverage testing laboratories, environmental research organizations, contract testing laboratories, and industrial quality assurance departments.

Can this chamber be used for routine refrigerated storage?

Yes. In addition to environmental testing, the LT024 can be used for controlled refrigerated storage of materials that benefit from stable temperatures within its operating range of 3°C to 15°C.

Why are some specifications listed as "Contact American Instrument Exchange"?

The Darwin LT024 is an older laboratory chamber, and complete manufacturer documentation may not always be available. American Instrument Exchange can provide additional information regarding dimensions, electrical requirements, and other installation details whenever possible.

Why purchase a refurbished Darwin LT024 from American Instrument Exchange?

Purchasing a refurbished Darwin LT024 from American Instrument Exchange provides laboratories with a dependable refrigerated environmental chamber at substantial savings compared with purchasing new equipment. Testing Procedures for Used and Refurbished Laboratory Incubators
Ensure Quality and Stability Before Use

Used and refurbished laboratory incubators from American Instrument Exchange are thoroughly tested to ensure optimal performance and temperature stability with laboratory safety standards. Each unit undergoes a detailed inspection and functionality assessment to meet the needs of research, clinical, and industrial labs.

Why Testing Used Laboratory Incubators Is Essential

Before a laboratory incubator is reintroduced into any work environment, it must be tested for:
• Temperature uniformity and accuracy
• Airflow and humidity control (if applicable)
• Door seal integrity and insulation effectiveness
• Electrical and safety system compliance

Comprehensive testing reduces the risk of culture loss, contamination, and equipment failure—especially critical in applications involving cell culture, microbiology, pharmaceutical research, and diagnostics.

Our multi-point testing protocol for used and refurbished incubators ensures reliability, safety, and performance across all models and brands.
