The Eppendorf 5417R microfuge is one of the most popular refrigerated micro centrifuges that we carry. Powerful yet compact. Inexpensive yet reliable. The Eppendorf 5417R has a low profile design which makes changing rotors easy and a low noise level to help reduce noise pollution and keep your lab nice and quiet.
An automatic rotor recognition program and imbalance detection mechanism cuts risk of operator error and improves safety. For low temperature applications, the Eppendorf 5417R features a FastTemp function for fastest pre-cooling and maximum temperature accuracy along with standby cooling to maintain temperature when the centrifuge is not in use in between runs. This centrifuge also has a soft brake feature to protect delicate samples.

Most of our equipment is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test the performance of all centrifuges and make sure the rotating assembly is properly balanced; the bearings, seals and gaskets on the spindle assembly are in good shape; and the controls work properly.
If the centrifuge is refrigerated we also test to make sure that the machine reaches and hold temperature properly. All tolerances are measured and the exterior and interior of all units are fully cleaned. If the unit is being purchased with a rotor we test the rotor/centrifuge combination together.

Q: What is the maximum speed and centrifugal force for the Eppendorf 5417R?
A: The 5417R spins up to 16,400 rpm, producing a maximum relative centrifugal force of about 25,000 × g. This varies depending on rotor used.
Q: Does the centrifuge have temperature control?
A: The refrigerated 5417R model allows you to set temperatures from approximately –9 °C to +40 °C. The Fast Cool feature that rapidly brings the chamber down to 4 °C for sensitive samples.
Q: Can I leave the centrifuge running unattended?
A: As a general rule, while the microprocessor-controlled system is reliable and safe it is good lab practice to monitor runs or ensure proper placement before unattended use — especially for long cycles.
Q: Can I connect this to a computer for data logging?
A: Some Eppendorf 5417R units are configured to include an RS-232 interface for data output and control, useful for logging or integration with lab systems. If this is a requirement for your application please tell our sales team.
Q: How do I clean the Eppendorf 5417R centrifuge?
A: Clean the exterior and rotor chamber regularly with mild, non-abrasive detergents; ensure no liquid enters the internal parts. Follow the manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines for best results.
Q: Will this centrifuge make a lot of noise?
A: While no centrifuge is completely silent during operation, the Eppendorf 5417R has a brushless motor and compact design that deliver quiet operation typically under 60 dB, making it suitable even in shared lab spaces or cold rooms.
