Panasonic MDF-U5312-PA Biomedical -30°C Laboratory Freezer Overview

The MDF-U5312-PA is part of Panasonic's respected MDF Series of biomedical freezers, developed specifically for laboratories that require dependable frozen storage without the complexity of ultralow temperature systems. Unlike many commercial freezers, the MDF Series is designed around maintaining stable cabinet temperatures, dependable alarm protection, and laboratory-grade construction suitable for continuous operation.

Its direct cold-wall refrigeration system distributes cooling through the cabinet walls rather than relying solely on forced-air circulation. This design promotes excellent temperature uniformity throughout the storage chamber while reducing localized temperature fluctuations that can occur in conventional freezers. Combined with manual defrost operation, the freezer provides highly stable storage conditions for valuable laboratory materials.

Common Applications

The Panasonic MDF-U5312-PA is commonly used to store vaccines, biological specimens, enzymes, laboratory reagents, culture media, pharmaceutical products, blood components, clinical samples, diagnostic materials, quality control standards, and environmental testing samples requiring dependable storage between -20°C and -30°C.

Its organized storage container system also makes the freezer an excellent choice for laboratories managing large sample inventories that require consistent organization and easy retrieval.

Ideal Laboratory Types

The MDF-U5312-PA is well suited for biotechnology laboratories, pharmaceutical manufacturers, hospitals, clinical laboratories, blood collection facilities, academic research institutions, public health organizations, environmental testing laboratories, and government research facilities.

Laboratories focused on sample integrity and dependable long-term storage will particularly appreciate the biomedical design philosophy behind Panasonic's MDF Series.

Temperature Recovery & Uniformity

Maintaining stable temperatures is one of the defining characteristics of the Panasonic MDF Series. Cooling circuits integrated throughout the cabinet walls provide highly uniform temperature distribution while minimizing localized warm spots within the storage chamber.

Because the freezer uses manual defrost rather than scheduled automatic defrost cycles, stored materials are not subjected to periodic warming events. Laboratories maintain control over when defrost maintenance occurs, allowing sensitive biological materials to remain in a consistently stable storage environment throughout normal operation.

Typical Stored Materials

The Panasonic MDF-U5312-PA is commonly used to store:

  • Vaccines

  • Biological specimens

  • Laboratory reagents

  • Enzymes

  • Culture media

  • Blood components

  • Pharmaceutical compounds

  • Diagnostic reagents

  • Clinical samples

  • Quality control materials

  • Environmental testing samples

Materials requiring storage below -70°C, including many cell lines, RNA libraries, DNA libraries, and long-term cryopreservation applications, should instead be stored in an ultralow temperature freezer.
