The PolyScience 6506T is part of the manufacturer's 6000 Series of refrigerated recirculating chillers. It is designed to continuously remove heat from externally connected laboratory and process equipment while maintaining controlled coolant temperature and circulation.
With approximately 1.7 kW of cooling capacity at 20°C, the 6506T occupies a useful middle ground between compact laboratory chillers and much larger high-capacity process cooling systems.
The T designation is particularly important when evaluating this model. The 6506T uses a turbine pump capable of generating substantially greater pressure than a conventional centrifugal-pump chiller while still providing approximately 13.2 L/min of maximum flow.
That combination makes the 6506T useful for cooling circuits where tubing, fittings, instrument passages, or other restrictions create significant hydraulic resistance.
The 6000 Series control system also allows users to quickly view coolant temperature, flow, and pressure. Audible and visual alarms monitor operating conditions and can alert users when temperature, flow, pressure, or ambient conditions move outside established limits.

The PolyScience 6506T can be used with a broad range of laboratory and analytical equipment requiring continuous liquid cooling. Typical applications include lasers, ICP systems, GC/MS equipment, FTIR instruments, spectrophotometers, condensers, rotary evaporators, reaction systems, electron microscopes, vacuum equipment, incubator water jackets, and other temperature-sensitive scientific equipment.
Its combination of moderate-to-high flow and elevated pump pressure is particularly useful for equipment with restrictive internal cooling passages or longer external circulation loops.
The 6506T can also provide an alternative to once-through tap-water cooling in compatible applications. Instead of continuously consuming and discharging facility water, the chiller cools and recirculates a controlled volume of heat-transfer fluid.
This can reduce water consumption while providing more consistent coolant temperature, pressure, and flow.
The PolyScience 6506T is well suited for analytical laboratories, biotechnology and pharmaceutical facilities, chemistry laboratories, spectroscopy facilities, materials-science laboratories, laser research groups, industrial R&D facilities, quality-control departments, and academic research laboratories.
It can be particularly valuable when an instrument requires more circulation pressure than a conventional low-pressure centrifugal pump can provide.
Laboratories replacing an existing PolyScience 6000 Series chiller should verify temperature range, pump configuration, electrical service, and cooling requirements because multiple configurations were produced within this product family.
The PolyScience 6506T provides approximately ±0.1°C temperature stability and is configured for refrigerated operation down to subambient temperatures.
Cooling capacity varies considerably with coolant temperature. The refrigeration system provides approximately 1,700 W of heat removal at 20°C, approximately 1,100 W at 10°C, and approximately 750 W at 0°C.
This cooling curve is important when sizing the 6506T for a particular application.
For example, an instrument generating a continuous 1 kW heat load would be comfortably within the chiller's nominal capacity at a 20°C coolant setpoint but would consume most of the available refrigeration capacity around 10°C and exceed the stated capacity at 0°C.
For this reason, chiller selection should always consider the required cooling capacity at the actual intended coolant temperature rather than relying only on the maximum 1,700 W rating.
Appropriate heat-transfer fluid should also be selected for subambient operation.
One of the most useful characteristics of the PolyScience 6506T is its turbine circulation pump.
The system provides maximum flow of approximately 3.5 GPM, or 13.2 L/min, at minimal external restriction. Pump pressure can be adjusted within an approximately 20–100 psi range.
This gives the 6506T substantially more pressure capability than many centrifugal-pump recirculating chillers, which commonly provide high flow but considerably lower maximum pressure.
Higher available pressure can be valuable when coolant must pass through narrow internal passages, long tubing runs, restrictive heat exchangers, or other equipment with significant hydraulic resistance.
Maximum flow and maximum pressure do not occur simultaneously. Actual operating flow depends on the resistance of the complete cooling circuit as well as tubing diameter, fittings, fluid viscosity, operating temperature, elevation, and instrument design.
The connected equipment's maximum allowable coolant pressure should always be checked before operation.
This used PolyScience 6506T Recirculating Chiller is refurbished and tested by American Instrument Exchange before shipment. Our technicians inspect the refrigeration system, compressor, turbine circulation pump, reservoir, temperature controller, display, alarms, condenser, electrical components, and external fluid connections.
Temperature-controlled equipment is tested using NIST-traceable probes and data loggers. The refrigeration system is operated for extended periods to evaluate cooling performance, temperature regulation, circulation, controller operation, and overall system stability.
The reservoir and accessible fluid-contact components are cleaned and inspected before shipment.
Because pump performance is particularly important with the 6506T, customers with specific flow or pressure requirements are encouraged to provide those requirements before shipment. When practical, American Instrument Exchange can incorporate customer-requested operating conditions into final testing.
A 90-day warranty is included with this refurbished PolyScience recirculating chiller.
The PolyScience 6506T is particularly attractive for applications requiring both meaningful refrigeration capacity and relatively high circulation pressure.
Its approximately 1,700 W cooling capacity at 20°C is suitable for many analytical and laboratory instruments, while its turbine pump provides up to approximately 13.2 L/min of flow with adjustable pressure up to approximately 100 psi.
Pump configuration is an important consideration when comparing recirculating chillers. A high-flow, low-pressure centrifugal chiller may be ideal for an unrestricted cooling circuit but perform poorly when connected to equipment with narrow passages or substantial hydraulic resistance.
The turbine-equipped 6506T provides greater pressure capability for these more restrictive applications.
Buyers should also consider coolant temperature, thermal load, electrical service, fluid compatibility, and maximum allowable instrument pressure before choosing a chiller.
American Instrument Exchange can help compare available used and refurbished laboratory chillers based on these requirements.
American Instrument Exchange stocks a range of laboratory circulators, including PolyScience recirculating chillers, refrigerated/heated bath circulators, immersion circulators, and higher-capacity process chillers. Laboratories using the PolyScience 6506T may also require evaporators and extractors, reactors and fermenters, laboratory water baths, or other refurbished laboratory equipment.
The 6506T provides approximately 1,700 W of cooling at 20°C, 1,100 W at 10°C, and 750 W at 0°C.
The PolyScience 6506T uses a turbine pump designed to provide a combination of relatively high flow and elevated pressure.
Maximum flow is approximately 3.5 GPM, or 13.2 L/min, under low-restriction conditions.
The turbine pump provides adjustable pressure from approximately 20 to 100 psi. The maximum allowable coolant pressure of the connected instrument should always be verified before operation.
The PolyScience 6506T provides temperature stability of approximately ±0.1°C under appropriate operating conditions.
