The Thermo Scientific Sorvall RC BIOS 6 centrifuge system is designed for high-speed, high-volume batch processing applications with the ability to spin up to 8,500rpm and 15,860 x g in as little as 9 minutes, depending on compatible rotor selection. The user-friendly controls on the RC BIOS reduce variability and errors in programming entry. Run time can be programmed from one minute to 99 minutes and 59 seconds, or the unit can be set at continuous operation for longer, untimed runs, with a total of 11 acceleration and deceleration profiles and memory for up to 15 programs. The high-performance induction drive features an imbalance detector sensitive to 50 grams.

This model comes equipped with a high-capacity carbon fiber six place rotor for 1L Nalgene centrifuge bottles. Carbon fiber rotors offer many advantages over the more tradition metal rotors, including enhanced durability with corrosion and fatigue resistance. Tubes can be loaded directly into the rotor, eliminating the confusion inherent with multi-canister assemblies.

Applications for this Sorvall RC BIOS 6 system include bacterial and mammalian cell pelleting, pelleting of cell cultures from fermentation tanks, particulate materials and debris, large microbial cultures, biologics and vaccine production, clarifying broths, harvesting cell and tissue cultures.

Most of our equipment is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test the performance of all centrifuges and make sure the rotating assembly is properly balanced; the bearings, seals and gaskets on the spindle assembly are in good shape; and the controls work properly. If the centrifuge is refrigerated we also test to make sure that the machine reaches and hold temperature properly. All tolerances are measured and the exterior and interior of all units are fully cleaned. If the unit is being purchased with a rotor we test the rotor/centrifuge combination together.

Our technicians inspect all rotors, including any buckets, gaskets and overspeed disks. Fixed angle rotors are closely inspected for body integrity; swinging bucket rotors supplied with buckets are checked for proper weight distribution. When possible we run each rotor in a compatible centrifuge to make sure the rotor spins properly.

The photos above are representative. Please bear in mind that the equipment shown is currently in storage in our warehouse and that in addition to testing each machine we will clean all the equipment thoroughly prior to shipment. We often have multiple units of each model in stock and sometimes we're unable to feature photos of every single unit. At your request, we can provide photos of the equipment in your order after it has been tested and cleaned.
