Thermo Heraguard ECO 1.8 laminar flow clean bench is designed for laboratory applications where sample protection is required. The Heraguard ECO 1.8 features horizontal airflow for laboratory-quality work that protects the material being processed against hazardous influences from the test area.
This clean benches is ideal for use in laboratories performing microbiological and biotechnology work, pharmacy laboratories, medical and microbiological laboratories, clinic and hospital laboratories, optical industry laboratories and in electronics industry labs. With DC blower motors, the Heraguard ECO 1.8 clean bench uses less energy to operate when as compared to similar benches.

Our technicians test each clean bench to ensure that the controls and blower motor work properly. We test the HEPA filter to check that it is suitable for use in lab conditions. Our testing procedure includes all the elements of a clean bench certification.
The photos above are representative. Please bear in mind that the equipment shown is currently in storage in our warehouse. In addition to testing each machine we will clean all the equipment thoroughly prior to shipment.
We often have multiple units of each model in stock. Sometimes we're unable to feature photos of every single unit. At your request, we can provide photos of the equipment in your order after testing and cleaning.
How does the Thermo Heraguard ECO 1.8 laminar flow clean bench work?
A laminar flow clean bench works by pulling air through a HEPA filter and pushing it in a smooth, uniform stream across the work surface. This continuous airflow removes airborne particles and maintains a clean, ISO-class environment for sensitive materials.
A clean bench protects the product only, while a biosafety cabinet protects the product, user, and environment. The Thermo Heraguard ECO 1.8 should not be used with hazardous or infectious materials because airflow is directed toward the operator.
The “1.8” refers to its 1.8-meter (approximately 6-foot) working width, providing a large workspace for handling multiple samples or instruments at once. This size is ideal for high-throughput laboratory environments.
Key features include:
These features ensure reliable contamination control and efficient lab operation.
A HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filter removes at least 99.97% of particles ≥0.3 microns, ensuring clean airflow. In the Heraguard ECO 1.8, it is essential for maintaining a contamination-free workspace.
This clean bench is ideal for:
It is widely used wherever product sterility is critical.
Routine maintenance includes:
Regular maintenance ensures consistent performance and compliance with lab standards.
Install the unit in a low-traffic, draft-free area away from doors, vents, or HVAC airflow disruptions. Proper placement is essential to maintain laminar airflow and prevent contamination.
