The Thermo Scientific 1510 4’ B2 biosafety cabinet meets NSF/ANSI 49 for a Class II, Type B2 BSC. These energy efficient cabinets require direct connection to external exhaust and provide personal and product protection from biological hazards and contamination as well as protection from volatile toxic chemicals used in the cabinet.
This biosafety cabinet has SmartFlow compensation to maintain downflow allowing effective use of downflow prefilter for extended HEPA filter life. It also has a counterbalanced sash for easy operation, and an 8” sash height, Type 304 stainless-steel interior, LCD information display located within the chamber, and touchpad controls within reach while seated.
Our technicians test each biosafety cabinet and clean bench to ensure that the controls and blower motor work properly, as well as ensuring that the HEPA filter is suitable for use in lab conditions. Our testing procedure includes all the elements of certification in order to ensure that the unit will pass certification once it is at your site.
If you're in the Greater Boston or New England area, contact our sister company, AIE Lab Services, to schedule your certification. In many cases, certification can be completed on the day of or following delivery. Their services include testing, certification, repair, replacement, decontamination, and removal of biosafety cabinets and clean benches. You can reach them at 978-521-2221 or by email at services@aielaboratoryservices.com.
Our testing procedures for B2 biosafety cabinets are limited, as we cannot replicate the same conditions as being hard ducted to the outside. We recommend that you contact the manufacturer and certifier (or whoever will be overseeing the installation) to ensure that this B2 total exhaust biosafety cabinet is right for your application, and compatible with your facility.

What does “Class II Type B2” mean?
A Class II Type B2 cabinet is a total-exhaust biosafety cabinet, meaning 100% of the air entering the cabinet is exhausted through a dedicated external duct system rather than recirculated. This design makes it suitable for work involving biological agents and small amounts of volatile toxic chemicals or radionuclides.
