Thermo Sorvall ST 16 benchtop centrifuge

  • Tabletop non-refrigerated centrifuge
  • Max capacity: 4 x 400ml
  • Maximum speed: 15,200 rpm

The Thermo ST 16 is a great option for general lab centrifugation and can be used for a range of routine applications and sample processing, including clinical protocols, cell culture applications, microplate processing, and a variety of separation needs. Compatible with a wide variety of rotors, the Thermo ST 16 presents users with many different configuration options. (Rotors sold separately; call for availability.) Six program keys allow users to enter their most frequently used programs for single keystroke access to the programs they use on a daily basis. The Thermo Sorvall ST 16 comes with Thermo’s Auto-Lock III rotor system makes changing rotors a cinch – push one button, and you can change your rotor and process parameters without the need for any tools. Additionally, the SMARTSpin rotor management system maximizes safety and separation by optimizing acceleration, braking, and residual load imbalance for any rotor/bucket option.

All of our equipment is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test the performance of all centrifuges and make sure the rotating assembly is properly balanced; the bearings, seals and gaskets on the spindle assembly are in good shape; and the controls work properly. If the centrifuge is refrigerated we also test to make sure that the machine reaches and hold temperature properly. All tolerances are measured and the exterior and interior of all units are fully cleaned. If the unit is being purchased with a rotor we test the rotor/centrifuge combination together.

Our technicians inspect all rotors, including any buckets, gaskets and overspeed disks. Fixed angle rotors are closely inspected for body integrity; swinging bucket rotors supplied with buckets are checked for proper weight distribution. When possible we run each rotor in a compatible centrifuge to make sure the rotor spins properly.

The photos above are representative. Please bear in mind that the equipment shown is currently in storage in our warehouse and that in addition to testing each machine we will clean all the equipment thoroughly prior to shipment. We often have multiple units of each model in stock and sometimes we're unable to feature photos of every single unit. At your request, we can provide photos of the equipment in your order after it has been tested and cleaned.
