Thermo Scientific MR30PA-GAEE-TS Glass Door Laboratory Refrigerator (Refurbished)

The Thermo Scientific MR30PA-GAEE-TS Glass Door Laboratory Refrigerator is a general-purpose laboratory refrigerator designed for reliable storage of reagents, biological materials, media, pharmaceuticals, and other temperature-sensitive laboratory supplies. With 27 cubic feet of usable storage capacity and an adjustable temperature range of 1°C to 12°C, the MR30PA-GAEE-TS provides substantial refrigerated storage in a single-door upright cabinet.

Part of Thermo Scientific's General-Purpose laboratory refrigerator family, the MR30PA-GAEE-TS combines a digital temperature controller with forced-air refrigeration, adjustable shelving, alarm monitoring, and a double-pane tempered glass door. The glass door allows laboratory personnel to locate stored materials before opening the refrigerator, helping reduce unnecessary door-open time while improving inventory management in busy laboratory environments.

Many laboratories pair general-purpose refrigerators with laboratory freezers, ultra-low temperature freezers, centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, and incubators to create complete sample preparation and storage workflows.

Overview

The Thermo Scientific MR30PA-GAEE-TS was designed for laboratories that need dependable refrigerated storage without the specialized features or additional cost associated with chromatography, blood bank, or pharmaceutical-grade refrigerators. Its 27 cubic foot interior provides ample room for everyday laboratory materials while retaining a relatively narrow single-door footprint.

A major advantage of the MR30PA-GAEE-TS is its double-pane tempered glass door. Researchers can identify reagents, samples, and supplies before opening the cabinet, reducing unnecessary door openings and making inventory management easier in shared laboratory environments. The keyed door lock also provides an additional level of security for valuable or access-controlled materials.

The digital controller is factory set to approximately 4°C and provides straightforward temperature monitoring for routine laboratory applications. Combined with forced-air circulation, the refrigeration system helps distribute conditioned air throughout the chamber for dependable day-to-day cold storage.

Common Applications

The Thermo Scientific MR30PA-GAEE-TS is commonly used for refrigerated storage of laboratory reagents, biological specimens, cell culture media, buffers, antibodies, enzymes, diagnostic materials, microbiology supplies, analytical standards, quality-control samples, pharmaceutical materials, and other temperature-sensitive laboratory products requiring storage within its 1°C to 12°C operating range.

Ideal Laboratory Types

The MR30PA-GAEE-TS is well suited for biotechnology laboratories, pharmaceutical research facilities, academic laboratories, hospital and clinical laboratories, molecular biology laboratories, environmental testing facilities, industrial quality-control laboratories, and general research facilities that require dependable refrigerated storage with convenient visual access to inventory.

Performance & Temperature Uniformity

The MR30PA-GAEE-TS uses a forced-air refrigeration system to circulate conditioned air throughout the storage chamber. This design helps reduce temperature stratification between shelves and provides more consistent storage conditions than refrigerators relying primarily on natural convection.

Forced-air circulation also supports faster temperature recovery following routine door openings. The glass door provides an additional practical advantage because users can identify stored materials before opening the refrigerator, potentially reducing both the frequency and duration of door openings.

For applications requiring documented temperature monitoring, laboratories should use appropriate independent monitoring or data-logging equipment based on their internal quality procedures and regulatory requirements.

Sample Storage Recommendations

The MR30PA-GAEE-TS is appropriate for general laboratory materials that require controlled refrigerated storage but do not require ultra-low temperatures or specialized hazardous-material storage. Samples and containers should be arranged to maintain adequate airflow around the shelves and interior walls rather than packing the chamber tightly.

For laboratories storing highly temperature-sensitive, regulated, or irreplaceable materials, independent temperature monitoring and appropriate alarm procedures are recommended. Flammable materials should not be stored in this general-purpose refrigerator; applications involving volatile or flammable liquids require a refrigerator specifically designed for flammable material storage.

Energy Efficiency & Operating Considerations

The MR30PA-GAEE-TS is a conventional general-purpose laboratory refrigerator built around a dependable compressor-based refrigeration system. Actual electrical consumption will vary according to room temperature, cabinet loading, door-opening frequency, setpoint, ventilation, and equipment condition.

Laboratories can help improve operating efficiency by maintaining adequate ventilation around the refrigerator, keeping the condenser clean, avoiding excessive door-open times, and arranging stored materials so that internal airflow is not obstructed.

Refurbishment & Testing Process

Every Thermo Scientific MR30PA-GAEE-TS refurbished by American Instrument Exchange undergoes a comprehensive inspection before shipment. Our technicians inspect the refrigeration system, digital controller, alarm functions, glass door, gasket, shelving, casters, and overall cabinet condition. The refrigerator is thoroughly cleaned and temperature tested to verify dependable operation before leaving our facility.

Purchasing a refurbished laboratory refrigerator can provide significant savings compared with purchasing new equipment while allowing laboratories to acquire commercial laboratory-grade cold storage rather than relying on equipment designed for household use.

Shipping & Installation Considerations

The Thermo Scientific MR30PA-GAEE-TS ships by freight from American Instrument Exchange. With exterior dimensions of approximately 30.75"W × 32"D × 81"H, laboratories should verify doorways, elevators, hallways, and final installation clearances before delivery.

The refrigerator requires 115V, 60Hz electrical service with a NEMA 5-15P connection. Once positioned and leveled, the refrigerator should be allowed to stabilize at its operating temperature before valuable laboratory materials are loaded.

Related Laboratory Equipment

Laboratories purchasing the Thermo Scientific MR30PA-GAEE-TS may also require laboratory freezers for frozen reagent and sample storage, ultra-low temperature freezers for long-term biological preservation, centrifuges for sample processing, biosafety cabinets for aseptic or containment work, and incubators for controlled-temperature research applications. American Instrument Exchange offers refurbished laboratory equipment across these categories for laboratories building or expanding complete research workflows.
