The Biotage Initiator microwave synthesizer provides faster reactions, delivers precise reaction conditions, and improves yields and purities. With a compact design and small footprint the Initiator can easily be accommodated even if your bench space is limited. In just a few simple steps operators can load and run samples using the touch screen controller.

When the microwave vial has been inserted into the microwave cavity and the cavity lid has been closed, high-frequency microwaves heat the reaction mixture. During the heating process, the reaction mixture is stirred by a magnetic stirring bar inside the microwave vial. It is also possible to stir the reaction mixture before the heating process is started (pre-stirring) to swirl up the content to improve the microwave absorption optimization. After processing, the reaction mixture is immediately cooled with pressurized air. When the temperature of the reaction mixture has dropped to 40°C or 50°C (according to your system setting), the cavity lid is opened and the microwave vial can be removed.

Most of our equipment is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test all equipment to confirm that it operates properly and to the manufacturer’s specifications. While we can’t test for a specific analytical application, we will do our best to simulate the conditions under which the equipment will be run. If you have particular testing requirements or requests please let us know and we’ll work with you to make sure these requirements are addressed during testing.

Please note that this unit is being sold as is. We've tested the unit and appears to function as intended, but the touch screen is not operational. Users can access the Biotage Initiator menu and control operation by connecting a monitor and mouse to the unit. The touchscreen itself is very faint and does not respond to finger pressure. We have been unable to repair this screen and so we are selling the unit as is.

The photos above are representative. Please bear in mind that the equipment shown is currently in storage in our warehouse and that in addition to testing each machine we will clean all the equipment thoroughly prior to shipment. We often have multiple units of each model in stock and sometimes we're unable to feature photos of every single unit. At your request, we can provide photos of the equipment in your order after it has been tested and cleaned
