Thermo Scientific / Lindberg – Blue M Box Furnace
Model BF51766A-1
Max temp: 1100°C
5.3 L (323 cu in) capacity
90-day warranty
The Thermo Scientific BF51766A Lindberg / Blue M Moldatherm Box Furnace has a single-setpoint digital controller, 5.3L (0.19 cubic foot) heating area capacity, and a temperature range of 100°C to 1,100°C for general laboratory use. A fully embedded heating element provides fast and even heating. Double-walled construction with thermal-efficient ceramic fiber insulation (Moldatherm) reduces heat loss, enhances energy efficiency, and increases resistance to thermal shock. The furnace has a dual-LED display that continuously shows both the chamber temperature and the setpoint temperature of the furnace in degrees C or F. The front door swings to the left when opened. A 1" diameter air vent on the top of the furnace allows air exchange and a 0.375" diameter atmosphere port in the rear of the furnace allows the introduction of fresh air or inert gas into the chamber. The unit may experience some air leakage around the door, so it is not suitable for uses requiring an airtight environment. A removable Moldatherm hearth plate supports the furnace load and protects the interior from spills and mishandling. This furnace is designed for laboratory-heating applications such as ashing, sintering, heat treating, quantitative analysis, and gravimetric analysis.

The Thermo Scientific BF51766A has a single-setpoint digital controller, which allows the user to set a single setpoint temperature and a ramp to the setpoint temperature. The controller has a PID control that prevents temperature overshoot. This unit also includes adjustable over-temperature protection (OTP), which is an additional, independent temperature control system to help protect furnace contents from temperatures in excess of set parameters. When the furnace heats beyond a specified limit, the OTP circuit sounds an alarm and then a mechanical relay turns off power to the heating elements. Additional safety features include a door safety switch, which turns off the heating elements when the door is opened, and sensor break protection, which turns power off in the event of thermocouple failure. The controller also includes a self-tuning feature. Self-tuning changes the control parameters to ensure temperature accuracy for a particular material type (load) and setpoint.
Most of our equipment
is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test all equipment to confirm that it operates properly and to the manufacturer’s specifications. While we can’t test for a specific analytical application, we will do our best to simulate the conditions under which the equipment will be run. If you have particular testing requirements or requests please let us know and we’ll work with you to make sure these requirements are addressed during testing.
The photos above are representative. Please bear in mind that the equipment shown is currently in storage in our warehouse and that in addition to testing each machine we will clean all the equipment thoroughly prior to shipment. We often have multiple units of each model in stock and sometimes we're unable to feature photos of every single unit. At your request, we can provide photos of the equipment in your order after it has been tested and cleaned.

New equipment comes with a warranty from the manufacturer.
How do you test and recondition the equipment?
Testing requirements vary across all the equipment categories we sell. Temperature controlled units are tested with NIST traceable probes and data loggers. Gaskets, external housing, glass, handles, controls and control screens are all thoroughly inspected for integrity and functionality. We test all equipment using the manufacturer's parameters and specifications to confirm that the unit operates properly.
How do products ship from American Instrument Exchange?
We can ship products both nationally and internationally using a well-established network of transporters. Smaller items will ship via UPS. Larger equipment will be palletized and shipped either LTL or air-ride, depending on the specific equipment and/or delivery requirements.
