The Thermo Scientific Sorvall Lynx 6000 is a high-performance refrigerated floor centrifuge designed for biotechnology laboratories, pharmaceutical manufacturing, bioprocessing facilities, academic research institutions, and large-scale sample processing applications. This particular configuration includes the Thermo Scientific Fiberlite F9-6x1000 LEX fixed-angle rotor, providing exceptional large-volume processing capability for bottle centrifugation, cell harvesting, bioprocessing workflows, protein purification, and high-throughput laboratory applications.
Laboratories evaluating floor centrifuges often compare rotor availability, maximum capacity, refrigeration performance, throughput capability, and workflow flexibility when selecting a centrifuge system. The Thermo Scientific Sorvall Lynx 6000 is engineered specifically for laboratories requiring large-volume processing capability while maintaining precise temperature control and broad rotor compatibility. The included Fiberlite F9-6x1000 LEX rotor is one of the most desirable Lynx rotor configurations for laboratories processing large sample volumes and biologic materials.
At American Instrument Exchange, our technicians inspect and test each centrifuge to verify proper refrigeration performance, motor operation, braking systems, lid lock functionality, and controller operation prior to shipment. American Instrument Exchange offers used and refurbished laboratory centrifuges for sale, including refrigerated centrifuges, floor model centrifuges, benchtop centrifuges, and large-capacity bioprocessing centrifuge systems from leading manufacturers including Thermo Scientific, Beckman Coulter, Eppendorf, and more.
One of the primary advantages of the Thermo Scientific Sorvall Lynx 6000 platform is its extensive rotor ecosystem. While this particular system includes the Fiberlite F9-6x1000 LEX rotor, additional Lynx-compatible rotors may be available separately depending on inventory.
This system includes:
Additional Lynx-compatible rotor options may include:
1392E CENTRI - FiberLite F14-6x250y Fixed Angle Rotor
1392M CENTRI - FiberLite F12-6x500 LEX Fixed Angle Rotor
1392N CENTRI - TH13-6x50 Swinging Bucket Rotor
1392Q CENTRI - FiberLite F20-12x50 LEX Fixed Angle Rotor
1392R CENTRI - FiberLite F14-14x50cy Fixed Angle Rotor
1394D CENTRI - FiberLite F21-8x50y Fixed Angle Rotor
Available rotor inventory changes regularly. Customers interested in expanding the capabilities of their Lynx 6000 should contact American Instrument Exchange regarding current rotor availability and compatibility.
Rotor compatibility is one of the most important considerations when purchasing a floor centrifuge. The Thermo Scientific Sorvall Lynx 6000 is designed to support a broad range of biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and research laboratory workflows depending on installed rotor configuration.
This particular system includes:
Depending on configuration, the Thermo Scientific Sorvall Lynx 6000 may support:
The included Fiberlite F9-6x1000 LEX rotor is designed for high-capacity bottle processing and large-volume sample preparation workflows commonly found in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and bioprocessing environments.
Customers should verify included rotors prior to purchase, as centrifuge configurations can vary between systems.

The Thermo Scientific Sorvall Lynx 6000 is a superspeed, floor-standing centrifuge designed for high-throughput laboratories. It is commonly used for cell harvesting, protein purification, DNA/RNA isolation, and clinical sample processing, generating high relative centrifugal force (RCF) to efficiently separate biological and chemical samples.
This model reaches speeds up to 29,000 rpm and forces exceeding 100,000 × g, placing it firmly in the superspeed category. This enables faster separations and improved workflow efficiency compared to standard high-speed centrifuges.
The Lynx 6000 offers exceptional flexibility, supporting:
It is compatible with a wide range of rotors (including Fiberlite carbon fiber rotors) and adapters, making it suitable for both small-scale and large-batch applications. If you would like to purchase a Lynx 6000 with rotors, please contact our sales team for pricing and availability.
Yes. The centrifuge supports GMP/GLP workflows and can integrate with data management systems (e.g., audit trails and user authentication), helping labs meet regulatory requirements.
Routine maintenance includes:
Operator manuals stress that rotor care is critical, as even minor defects can lead to failure under high centrifugal force. For customers in Greater Boston and New England, our technicians may be able to provide annual preventative maintenance services along with equipment repairs.
Purchasing a refurbished unit offers several advantages:
This makes it an ideal choice for labs seeking high-end performance without exceeding budget constraints.
Absolutely. Its scalability, rotor versatility, and high throughput make it ideal for:
When purchased refurbished, it delivers premium performance at a significantly lower cost, making it a smart long-term investment.
Yes, we frequently have rotors in stock and available to pair with Thermo Lynx centrifuges. Some of these rotors are only available for sale as part of package purchases with the Lynx 6000 centrifuges, such as the F9-6-1000 LEX, while some other models may be available for purchase separately.
You can use the search feature on our website to find specific rotors, or contact our sales staff for pricing and availability information.
Using multiple rotors, we program different parameters into each Lynx 6000 and run the unit as it would be used in a lab. The UI on the Lynx 6000 allows us to determine the successful execution of each programmed run.
Our technicians also check the electronics, the refrigeration system, the integrity of the spindle and bowl, and other factors to ensure that the centrifuge is in good working order and will run to spec in your lab.
For customers in Greater Boston and New England, our movers can provide inside delivery. Our field service technicians are also available to provide setup and installation if needed, though in most cases an experienced lab manager can set up the machine. Please call or email us for details.
For customers outside of our local delivery area, the Lynx 6000 Centrifuge will ship on a pallet, partially crated. We can arrange for dock-to-dock shipment. If white-glove delivery is needed, we can work with local carriers for final-mile delivery.
